Default A Question for those of us that race World GT's in Florida

I'm raising the question so I know what to attempt to prepare for the 2010 racing season.
ROAR has legalized the 3.7 lipo for 1/12th and 1/10 racing. In World GT (1/10th) we presently run both the 4 cells and lipos with the 13.5.Since the lipo is 1 volt lower it is not as fast throught the entire course as a 4 cell car. There is not enough of us to race two difference classes. Yes the lipo car is lighter but that does not help in the voltage department.Do we allow the lipo cars to run the 10.5 against the 4 cells cars running the 13.5? That is the question. It's been fun to a point this year of trying to compete with the 4 cell cars but the lipo is not going to be as fast. I can say the wear and tear is About as low as you can go. The only thing I've replaced the whole year is one body and one set of tires.

If you don't like slow- guess what you will be with that set-up. If a 13.5 with lipo is slow against a 13.5 with 4 cells what do you think the slower 17.5 will be? I 'm just trying to find out what most will be running. Since I was the 'ONLY' one running the single cell lipo with a 13.5 against 13.5 with 4 cells in the series. I was even 5 oz lighter than with the 4 cell set-up.
Presently there is not enough to break up the class into 4 cell and lipo. If a lipo car wants to run competitive it will more than likely need to run and 10.5. At least that's what every has told me and I've talked with alot of people.
Now If everyone goes to LIPO this discussion is over but as long as someone runs 4 cells ?

From what i understand, ROAR recognizes 4-cell AND 1s Lipo as two separate classes. Race directors will have to step up and say, we are only running one of those classes, sorry.

With Lipos being so easy to use and maintain, everyone should be switching over.

If i get into this class i'll be running the 13.5/1s Lipo combo. So that's my vote.

Thanks. I'm just tired to trying everything and to still be slower. But I was the only one running with the lipo. By the way I was using a 44-45x88 and 2.20 tires.

Thanks for the gearing info, that was gonna be my next question.

What about tires? The Lilac spec tire or something else?

That's easy I've been using Jaco Purple fronts and pink rears trued to 2.20. Body I've always used is the Alfa but I think maybe the vette is better. It's your choice.

I guess the on road guys need to take not of what the oval guys at Strickland are going. There are several oval classes that are currently in transition stage.
SKs are currently running 4cell 27, 4cell 17.5, and 1cell lipo 13.5. 3 different powerplants

Nastruck are currently running 4cell 19 & 21.5/3200 lipo.

Most of the world gt racers are at Adrenaline. Do they have an interest in switching to 1cell lipo and/or running with a 1cell 10.5. Superior has some world gt, what do they want to do. Get the tracks owners on board. They have an vested interest on this too.

my car goes along pretty darn fast with 17.5 and 7.4v lipo... not as fast as my wide car with a 10.5, but not slow.. whatever you guys decide to run, that's the class.. i'm just saying that slowing it further than it is would be a mistake.. so the series is not currently using the spec tires?

17.5 and 2c lipo (7.4v) is still fairly fast, i think they were saying 17.5 and 1c lipo (3.7v) will be slow.

yep a single cell 3.7 with a 17.5 would be slow. A 7.4 battery is not run in the class. It's been either 4 cell or single cell.

from what i've read 1c lipo and 17.5 is about the same speed as 4cell nimh and a 21.5.
