Yeah, Oatmix, I guess you're right. Stock will be most fun. A big Tamiya box was under our Christmas tree yesterday, so assembly will begin this week, right after I salvage some needed parts off an old M03 I can't race anymore.
Happy New Year everybody. See you at the track.

I have a suggestion to Fred:
I highly recommend allowing replacement of the 19t pinion to a harden 19t gear. The stock gear is soft and destroy the spur gear in pretty short order. You have to take half the truck apart to replace the spur gear. I was at the truck race in Stockton there were a couple of trucks that were setting up their spur gear. Many racers have little experience with Tamiya pinions they cost $8 and need to be replaced every couple of race days. Also the Tamiya gear is a metric 48 pitch so if you are going to use a replacement gear make sure it the correct gear.
If you use a regular 48 pitch gear an you would have to use a 23t to get a mesh in the 19t mounting holes.
IMHO

Robinson racing 19t 0.6 pinion would solve the issue he speaks of.

0.6 is metric and it probably cost less then Tamiya last forever and help new racers out saving work replacing the spur and pinion.

There's no such thing as "metric 48 pitch". It's just called 0.6 mod, and when converted from metric is actually roughly 42 pitch. That's like calling a metre a "metric yard".

Any servo is good.Low profile is what I prefer. I don't think lightening the chassis is allowed per TCS rules

You need to use a inexpensive servo digital servo or a servo that pulls higher amperage then the ESC can handle and it will cause ESC failure.

The Euro truck class at the Hobbytown Fresno TCS race was a great success. There was a A and B main some great racing with the A main being decided by 3 feet. Many trucks bounced in every corner but some trucks were really hooked up and had some great races.
