I used to tweak the gears a little just about every time I ran the car...but as I got better at the shimming deal and got a new LW shaft (they get torn up on the ends)...I haven't messed up a gear in a couple months.
That and they only take a few minutes to change...plus they're cheap.
I like mine so much that I actually have three of them now...red surikarn (outside car), blue Surikarn (inside car) and a TB-02/EVOIII (TCS GT-3 car). The car is tough as nails.

Hey Jeff...where did you get that Jurgen one-way? I was telling Dotman about it...but I haven't a clue where they come from.
When are you coming back to SoCal?

I will be back in April. I have been doing mostly nitro lately so haven't been to SoCal as much.

Have you had any problems with the bevel gear on the evo III and if so how did you fix it.

A fix I have found that works is using the Evo IV Aluminum ring gear for the one way. Everyone says that it will not work but it is the same amount of teeth as the Evo III ring gear and works great. Just make sure you shim the one way toward the bevel or you will strip the bevel. Although I only striped the bevel when running a 19t (but I shimed the one way wrong) but with a stock motor I have had no issues even with some heavy crashes.
the LW shaft in combonation with the aluminum gear is the fix.

g'day
does anyone here use their evo3 for 540 stock racing (using a mabuchi silver can)? if so what gearing would you reccomend as a starting point? in 64dp. i have set up for 40mm rollout but i think it is lacking top end just wondering if there is a 'sweet' spot in these motors...
