My Evo3 works well on asphalt, here is the basic setup I use:

Asphalt (f/r), a little twitchy but fast

Camber 1deg
Toe 0.5deg in/3deg
Yellow springs
Yellow sway bar (blue on high traction surfaces)/no rear sway bar
Droop 3mm/3mm
Oil 40/30 (50/40 to make it less twitchy)
Pistons 3 hole (2 hole for smoother tracks)
One way
Outer most shock positions (must shave body post for the rear)
Wheelbase spacer 2mm/3mm
Wheel spacer 1mm/0.5mm
Roll center 0.7mm kickup and anti-squat
Toe-in links mounted on front-most holes on upright (more ackerman)
Tires: the one that works

Carpet (f/r)

Same as above, except
White/blue springs
Blue sway bar/no rear
Oil 50/40
stock roll center setting
Tires: Sorex 28/24

If possible use 415 (-1mm) or 414 blocks (-2mm) to lower roll center. Works very well on low traction surfaces.

Hi All,

New to this thread.

I have an EVO 3 Surikahrn and it keeps breaking front bevel gears. they seem to get pushed into the oneway ring gear by the drive shart. does this happen to any one else if so is it preventable?

Thanks

Marc, I ran a search eariler today for your setups. I'm getting my Evo running again. Had it good one day (3 seconds & 2 positions behind TQ/winner in main after qualifying 7th) but my gears stripped and a part broke which in combination of a bad setup change I made to try to get it "dialed" made it handle like absolute crap.

Dans drving the Evo again. TEAM TRF IS ONCE AGAIN!

Actually the reason the one-way gears/crown gears strip is the mesh isn't even close. The Lightwieght Main Drive Shaft (tamiya pt #53686) is supposed to fix this.

xxxkat: Tamiyas are DESIGNED with rubber tires/tarmac in mind. Thats how most of the tracks in Japan are (from what I hear....I'll check on that later in life )

Nothing worse than having a car and not trying it at least on time.

Does any one know if a Tamiya TG10 Ball diff will fit in the front of an EVO 3 SK?

WYD I've got an Evo 3 that's been upgraded to surikarn spec. minus the TI screws and turn buckles and I'm using the 2.5mm chassis and have a new lower chassis plate. I'll be at the charity race in Laurel I'll be pitting around punkboy or blast with the HTGB people.

Has anyone tried using lunsford ball ends on their evo3? The reason why im asking this is because im not really satisfied with the tamiya ball cups (black ones) and want to use RPM ball cups, which doesnt fit the tamiya ball ends. Ive read that Lunsford ball ends has sizes in 0.215, 0.250 and 0.375 inch. I dont know which ones will fit so any help will be appreciated

FYI...

A very close-to-stock EVO111 took second place in GT1 at this years Tamyia USA Nationals... This very same EVO111 was one of few to hit the fast 15.0 lap in the Mains... and the only car, regardless of class, to put out 20 laps in the mains ...

this car is still quite capable...

pics to come soon...

Ahh yes, the A3 "O Show"

Your car was dialed the last heat to say the least....made those of us who have not made the jump to the 415 or EVO4 proud!

Hi i was wondering if anyone has tried the aluminium one-way ring gear from the evo4 ( hopup), does it fit and if it does, does it prove to fix the gear stripping problem?

thanks
