Hey madjack what do you mean by the Blue 3mm upgrade chassis kit?? is that like all the red stuff that comes std on the surikarn edition?? And whats the number for the speedtech hardened spool??

The BLUE UPGRADE kit 49335 does not come with any chassis, the box is too small. Buy it separately (53629 TB EVO 3 SURIKARN Hard Main Frame 3.0mm).
The kit only gives you all the stock car's green bits in blue, except no blue motor heatsink. You do get 2 blue servo mounts instead, and 2 blue lightweight uni shafts (53502 42mm Aluminium Rear Shafts).
The blue shaft is the updated longer version, but not "lightweight".
The blue motor mount plate is a the HopUp *finned* 53684 style.
You also have to buy separately two packs of alloy blue upper arm mounts (53628 TB EVO 3 Upper Arm Aluminium Mount Set) as kit does not include them.
Also no blue ball ends and ball nuts (ok so Surikarn's ain't red) nor spare set of blue hexes for your axles (Surikarn's are red).
In all a bloody expensive exercise in the name of vanity.

I generally don't run a spool unless the race rules mandate it. I'm not sure what the part number for the Speedtech spool is, I will say this....the thing is bullet proof. It showed no wear after a week of testing and the race weekend.
(be aware that your u-drives & axles will suffer when running a spool)
I would call Steve at Speedtech or visit his web site. (great on-line shop to deal with for the serious RC racer)

Sadly, the evo3 will be parted out for the "TB02 from hell" with the Tamiya Nationals just around the corner, it should make for a very competitive car in the GT2 class...I hope, would love another chance at the podium

I've been voted "Home for lost EvoIIIs" (go figure).
Its been a crazy 12 months since May 2003 when I first discovered EvolutionIII - I was a late arrival.
2nd EvoIII arrived in June. This one clocked average 70km/h over 4 mins.
Got to race in TCS in Oct 2003 which was quite exciting... EvoIII will be fondly remembered for that. Raced 2 green cars, bought 1 red kit.
Another red came at xmas 2003; runs great at 74.5km/h.
And the next red one appeared in April 2003... after doing mod tour of duty at Reedy Thailand. A few battlescars but has been restored back to great condition.
The last (a green one) turned up 3 wks ago, with the BLUE kit. Car was parted out for spares & to hopup the TB02... plus a silly 'project' (shaftdrive 4WD in a 225mm wheelbase?).
In recognition of the 1st green beast's 1st anniversary in my care, I gave it the full BLUE works last month. Only ran it once at TCS and the only original bits left are the dogbones & topplate.
225mm frankenstein project is ready to roll.
TB02 (already with alloy motor mount, alloy steering & SSG strip) got its EvoIII implant... but I couldn't feel ANY improvement. Bugger! So I just rebuilt it with the stock plastic parts - and it handles just the same!!
Hmm... I think I won't be buying an EvoIV.
(Yeah right.)

My baseline set-up's tend to have quite a bit of steering by most standards, so for me a one-way works well, as I rarely use much brake to get the car to turn in....while on my way off track...only to burst into flames...
