That’s why they offer an 800x, 800xa, 800xah. All same price. They took after X-ray selling chassis purpose built for different surfaces. Ae should do the same and offer an aluminum kit as well as a carbon kit. Might generate some more sales.

Not so sure the aluminum is needed though.

Didn’t seem to hold me back this weekend, maybe it depends on driving style.

I'm going with our local drivers, and there choice for our application on Black high grip carpet. from what I have scene with Keven Hebert's set-up's he is using aluminum chassis

If it was grey carpet or asphalt, I'm going with the carbon.

But hey, if you feel carbon works the best for you on high grip black carpet, more power to you.

The solid Associated aluminum chassis with a cut top deck on medium grip grey carpet has been awesome for me. In the end it is driver preference though. I do find the aluminum chassis is a lot more forgiving when attacking the curbs/dots compared to the carbon chassis though.

Hi all,
I have a couple of questions about the TC7 build... They're just curiosity more than anything.
Firstly, I went ahead and picked up the front DCV kit for the TC7, and when putting it together I noted that the crosspin clips are to be installed directionally... But why? Now they are both together I can't for the life me tell a difference between the two?

Second question, I also got the steel out drives for the rear, and noted that the plastic out drives have a flange that when installed would hold the cams in place, but the steel ones allow the cams to just slip off... Again, what gives here?

Cheers.

The DCJ clips is so that they stay in place. If you "lead" with the sharp edge, then on lock, it is possible that clip can catch and become damaged / pop off.

I'm not sure what you mean about the outdrives.

Ok, the DCJ clip issue seems overblown by the manual -- the TC7 manual is pretty basic in some very important sections, and then way over the top on the most simple things. I do note, however, that changes were made between the TC7 and TC7.1 manuals to address this -- just like the car's evolution for the better, the manual has also evolved.

The outdrives - the composite outdrives in the TC7 kit are wider at the base than the steel 7.1 outdrives, so when you screw them on to the spool/diff the wider back of the outdrive holds the cam on. When you screw the steel outdrives on to the spool/diff the cam can slip over the narrower outdrive.

With all that said, I am having an issue with the left rear hinge pin angle... I haven't got enough posts at this point to post a pic, but basically the left rear hinge pin is at a slightly more acute angle than the right hinge pin. I have tried swapping the arm mount inserts, tried two new inserts, flipping them, etc, but nothing works. If you looked at a protractor, and the centre of the car is 90 degrees, the left hinge pin would be at a 105-110 degree angle, while the right would be at 100-105 degrees (80-75 degrees on the protractor). Anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Thanks

OK, so you're actually talking about the spool outdrives? You specifically said rear in your first post!

The front plastic ones are like that for strength, they have to be and they're moulded so can be easily. The steel ones are strong enough as it is and would be very expensive if they were the same profile as the plastic ones. The cams are held in by the bulkhead, the diff / spool is irrelevant.
