What tips did you get?

I run my TRF102 an carpet and asphalt/tarmac.

I'm basically trying to copy my 104 X1 setup until I get more familiar with the 102 (tomorrow )

The current Champ likes 30 wt oil, black spring with blue dot, 20k on the side damper and on the king pins, gold springs up front, 5mm ride height, chassis level with about 1 - 1.5mm droop.

Thats what I got from him, if I'm not mistaken.

I was running much lighter damper lube 5k - 10k and was liking it ok.

Will try the 20k lube tomorrow.

We run the same tires on asphalt, Pit Shimizu 572 rear (or TCS logo tire same thing) and the kit front tires from the F104 series, not the optional front tires, little too much push (but can calm down a twitchy set up nicely) and not the Pit Shimizu 571 (TCS logo), too much steering most of the time, really aggressive however some racers can deal with them and will run them.

I haven't run my TRF 102 on carpet and most likely won't since I don't have to. I
I really, really like my XRAY X1 for that.

The go to tires for carpet here are either Pit Shimizu 571/572 combo or 574/575 combo or mix and match those 4 compounds.
i.e. 571 fronts are good steering but in my opinion are grippy at first then fade a little into the run
574 fronts stay more consistent thru the run but have more steering overall so I sauce them less, 1/4 to 1/2 of the inside tire contact surface.

572 rears have good grip and the 575 have better grip if you need it, sometimes too much but usually the go to rears.

My favorite is 574/575 almost always but I only run average, on carpet.

Apparently I do my best work on asphalt.

Hoping to see the front arms for sale soon.
I've broken 3 t-bars. This was on a boarded track. My v2 can take more damage. I know...stop hitting stuff. Lol. I don't hit stuff often but that was when the car was new and trying to get a set up going.
Car feels great though. Very easy to drive.

Sound like you just missed out, my spares arrived yesterday. The first shipment sold out quickly. The TQ stock notification function works well for out of stock items.

I'd guess 102 racers are stocking up! 3 of the 4 TRF102 racers broke the thin t-plate during the recent TCS Nationals.

I have 1 back up T plate, thin, and I'm hoping I don't have to use it.

Car is working so well that my confidence in it is high.

Gonna find out tomorrow at the Tuning Haus race at Tamiya's track here.

A quick qualifier and 3-10 minute mains should be a good enough test.

Damn I love this format for racing!

102 got the job done.

Is now officially better than my "Monkey Car" 104X1 conversion.
Up on the shelf it goes.
That car has been so good a monkey could drive it.
Hey now I said a monkey COULD drive it, not a monkey DID drive it!

The t-plates are specific to the trf102 only. The car is fairly new and probably has not sold enough units to justify 3rd party development and production for part with a $7.- street price.
