I don't plan on getting one. I'm just interested in the harder suspension parts for my Samix 418 LCG car.

Got my car handling today. Raised the inner rear camber link helped the most. Then I changed the camber from 2° to 1.5° and it was hooked but a little slow in the corners. Changed springs to hpi silvers and I finished 3rd in the A-main.

Picking up a lightly used 419 Saturday. Looks like i have some reading to do. Haven't driven TC since the TC5 days.

I ran a 419 in 17.5 TC and a TC5 for USGT, and basically had them set up equally, as far as shock oils, cambers, etc, and they were both equally happy on our medium grip technical asphalt track. Sway Bars are a must, for both!!

Quite a plethora of changes. Hopefully they all work well together.

Interesting they have gone back to narrower bulkheads (screw points inside of the blocks again). And still the sway bar mounting is the same. I personally didn't have a huge issue with it, but the bearing system on Xray etc is much easier to get right. Plus the team don't run the same style upright connection. Odd.

Also note a small hole in the side of the blockhead and a countersink in the chassis below - is this belt tension or something else?

Motor mount also appears to have Xray style flex position adjustment.

Also interested to see if the camber link mounts can move fore/aft as well as width by shimming.

Not sold on the back bits. All blue or all black - 50/50 is odd.

Hopefully manual is out somewhere soon to get geeky with a read.

Still those damn screws in the Motor Mount. Instead these BA4 2,6x8mm I recommend the screws from TBEVO6 BA72,6x6mm.

The extra holes under the front/rear bulkheads are for flex adjustment. You can choose which holes to use. See setup sheet lower right corner.

Good to see all the ballast weights included in the kit. 30g in centre means moving from 1380 to 1350 is easy as well.

419X a bit lacking in response to the customer or seeing what the competition is doing.


No molded holes in Ballcups
Same Fragile C Hubs
Same Diff Outdrive Orings or Same Diff
Xray Sway bar bearing system would be nice
Sway Bar mount at least in front arm like a Yokomo


And I still think Separate Suspension Mounts is the way to go all the way FF/FR and RF/RR for keeping arm play consistent after a few knocks into a board. The single piece FF and RR shift.

See attached low grip asphalt set up from the weekend with LP shock towers.
The car was excellent, first outdoor drive this year. IMO still plenty of room to improve (test), unfortunately I didnt have much time for practice and fine tune the car.
Overall I finished 2nd, which I never did before, since yokomo/x-ray guys were always much faster last year.
I could have a real chance to win and start race from P1, however I did driving misstakes during qualifying which cost me a lot, so race position was 3rd.

So LP shock towers with MM springs is a great combination for me for asphalt :-)!

PS: During carpet season I didnt have the chance to be so close to them. (same or better best lap, overall 5 minutes race within 1mp with top 3 cars)

Finally got to the track yesterday and the car worked pretty well. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to drive. I haven't driven TC in probably 5 years. I was also a bit nervous as I was at the Tamiya track and i had exactly one front arm, one rear arm and a pair of chubs for spares, No springs, no shock oil, no diff oil. I did have some spacers to play with roll centers but didn't. I bought the car used and just drove it. It had no spacers under any of the suspension mounts or camber links, kit springs, 350 oil in the shocks and 5000 in the diff. Running the LTC-2 so it had plenty of steering. Trying to put together a list of tuning parts and oils now. from reading the thread and setups it looks like i need shock oil from 350-450, some 3000 and 5000 diff oil, and HPI silver and blue springs. Anyone have anything to add?

Hey Ken, is the bulkhead spacing the same as the 418? Also wondering if the shock towers would fit on a 418. I do have the Fibre Lyte ones but they are thin. Just curious. Thanks. Oh, and awesome report!
