All comes down to perspective. From what I have seen I would list the following as very good cars in both performance and durability which will all be great for the average racer.

ARC
Awesomatix
Capricon
Kyosho
Schumacher
Tamiya
VBC
Xray
Yokomo

If you want to compare the best of the best purely on performance (any of the top 5 of the below list could win the worlds IMO)

Awesomatix
Tamiya
VBC
Xray
Yokomo
Schumacher for low grip

yeah, long shocks and also big bore. If xray doesn't go that way, I will probably get Arc shocks and T3 front and rear towers.

T3 towers don't work, the bulkheads are narrower, but BezerkRC can make you some that do fit and work well.

Thanks erchn, will look into it. On of these days I will make it to Norcal since it's one hour away.

On this years LRP Masters many drivers used them in combination with longer shocks!

I have no clue which direction they will go with the car for the next season one option is to take the new NT1 shocks and fit them on the T4?

It does seem like high time that Xray release a new "R" car though:
T1R
T2R
T2R Pro
T3R
T4R??

Every other platform they've built they have released in "R" spec. That being said I do believe that those R cars of the past were not the best value and or they were released so late in the platform life that they didn't offer too many benefits. I am thinking about getting a new chassis though for next year and an R would do nicely as my T3'10 is getting a bit too sloppy now.
Exactly many are in the same boat. They have been driving old Xray cars forever. Give them a reason to spend a little more for a new Spec R of the latest Xray chassis design. I know many that would love to try an Xray but not for a $500 dollar bill. Instead they recycle. I think most can agree people want Xray for quality, but simply can't afford one. At least give them a chance feel the difference. lol Or better yet a purpose built VTA SpecR.

I found Raceberry to be out of stock quite often. Bezerk makes them on demand, so should be available pretty much anytime.

Also, the NT1 '14 shocks do fit very nicely, and make an excellent T3 shock replacement. Add a 2mm spacer inside the shock on the shock shaft and you're set, as the NT1 shock body is designed a bit differently than the T3.

And how does the thing drive?
