Tamiya TB Evo 6

I raced mine in 17.5TC for a couple months. With a lightweight PF Dart body, I still had to add about 20g to get it to the ROAR legal 1380g. I was running a 5000mah smc and a HW 17.5. I think Othe motor weighs in at 172g which is a bit heavy. I'd say depending on battery and other electronics you'll be right at, or even a little under minimum legal weight limits. You can loose another 12g if you switch to the carbon drive shaft made by ewippler and lightweight front outdrives. You can loose even more weight by switching to a ball rear diff.
In the end, this car isn't exactly a feather weight, but it isn't a pig either. You should be just fine. You will probably need to worry about balancing the car vs trying to shed weight

Could you give some more info / link about that carbon drive shaft?
Cheers,

Thank you sir! Do you have a part number? For those that are curious I had a 3 racing car on hand that I used parts from and they fit perfectly. Just had to open up the hole for the hinge pin and shave a bit off the C hub to fit the arm. And those parts are pretty much the exact dimensions and fit great. And are very very tough.

Just got one myself, it's about 3.5 grams lighter than stock.

The first Race with the Exo-Six was a bit unlucky.
After a blown Tire on the way to the Race and waiting 3 hours for a Rental Car, i had problems with an unstable Rear end. I've solved the Rear but now the Track is getting Grip and the Car rolls over. At the 3rd Qualification Run, i was kicked out and this brought the end of the Race for me

How does EVO 6 handles 13.5? I'm always bit scary as I have the feeling it won't hold long with 13.5.
The 17.5 seems a sweet spot for the EVO's.

I think 13,5T at 4,5 Indoor is okay, it feels really good and the Outdrives looked good too. But this was the only race with 13,5, usually i run 17,5 blinky.

As I was toying with the idea to have one of my EVO's as ETS car perhaps.
But 17.5 again feels super nice and car is fast too!

Exo Six first meeting outdoors
Had my first race day with the exo 6 in 13.5 blinky, large out door track fast lap time in this class is around the 17.5 sec mark. My best time before this meeting was an 18.5 with my associated FT TC4 that i have raced for many years.
First few shakedown practice laps and straight up i was lapping in the 18.5 sec mark car felt very responsive and had a ton of steering, I had to turn the dual rate down to 65% to tone it down ended at 70% by end of the night.
Had a few issues with the body snagging the ground in my initial races and never picked it up untill the end of the nights racing, but still managed a new PB of 18.2 sec.
So all in all very happy with the new car well done Exotec for making an excellent chassis.
looking forward to the next meeting with still plenty of speed to be had im sure.
btw I was running the spec R Diffs front 30000 and Rear 2000 and the carbon driveshaft from Eric Wippler may try heavier oils next meeting.
Cheers Dave

The FT tc4 could also do 17.5 sec with the BERT mods, and the Exo 6 with all aluminum parts and blitz(60g) 0.5mm gsf body can do the same....

Bert I have been driving the Tc4 since it came out and have done numerous modifications to it. It has all the lightweight parts on already and is extremely free in the drivetrain. And to me the Tamiya is just easier to drive and more consistent. I'm not bashing the Tc4 as I still love that car (I have 3 of them ) but I won't be going back to it either.
Just checked the diff gears in the car and no sign of any wear at all. The drivetrain is still not as free as my Tc4 so a bit of work to do yet. Oh and the driveshaft pinion out drive is showing no signs of opening up at this stage and this is running in 13.5 Blinky.
Cheers Dave

Corner weight balance
I need some advice from the group on corner weights.
I scaled by car last night and much to my surprise, the corner weights are fairly off. I'm ~ 60gm off from the heaviest to the lightest corner but what is weird is I have my battery full forward but the right rear is the heaviest. I've checked for chassis tweak, rollbar tweak, shock height, top deck, shock towers are all tightened down as equally and free of bias as possible.
My other Exo 6 isnt like this.
Any ideas or suggestions I can try?
