I agree with you there. I usually can get at least two race days, sometimes three, between cuts since I started using Tribo. It makes a huge difference on mod motors. I can usually go a complete race day between cuts in mod.

do you gear it differently. BigJim states that you can gear it down one pinion size.

NO, I haven't used it, but I understand the theory. Brushes that are well broke in will wear the comm less too, because there is less presure per square inch.

Mike F

I always gear to the track based on the speed of my car. I never use someone elses gear ratio. What I have found is that I can usually run one or two teeth bigger on the pinion than most guys do/can. The motor still runs fine and I don't get any unusual wear. BTW, I either run a P2K2 or MVP in my sedan. Just to give you an idea, I can usually run around 5.8:1 where most guys are running at least 6:1. The result is that my car is always one of the fastest on the track down the back straight. Through the twisties, eh, that's another story, but that has to do with the guy behind the controller, not the motor or the gearing!

pyscho how big is your track. 5:81, man you must be flying. Do your batteries get really hot? What kit are you running also.

I'm running a bigJim p2k and I'm at 6:45.

What you mentioned about the gearing is what I was referring too when you use TRIBO

I haven't been on this post for sometime, so I don't know if this has been ask lately. Has anybody tired the Peak Performance Hellfire motor (the dyno tested one). I'm thinking about getting one and I'm wondering if it is a good motor to get.

Thanx for any input sent my way

Team R: I have one, the narrowed brushes work well in this motor same as in the MVP. With the stock brushes the motor is very rpmish. The narrowed 766's bring up the torque and help keep the motor cooler.

What? No talk about the monster stock motor, I just got one and I'm gonna try running a final of 6.75(1 tooth down from what I gear my P2K2's). 100'X50' track with fast turns. I'll post results Sunday night or Monday morning.

Hey MR4tc, what did you gear it at. I agree that it hauls a$$,but I'm never sure if I'm geared properly. Did you use the std. brushes or the cut (reduced width) brushes. Thanks-Al

MONSTER STOCK - very impressed, many guys here are convinced. i saw a few different setups work well
in no particular order
1. 4499 red/green
2. 767 red/green
3. 4499 green/copper
4. axiom 12%full / axiom 12% cavity red/red (my favorite)

all in all we ran these motors between 7.70 - and 8.20 many guys tried 6's and low 7's but they all kept droppin teeth off their pinions. i ran setup # 4 a 7.81 FDR. track is 120x50
