Roll out between a 1.80-1.95 depending on amp draw of the motor. High amp draw closer to 1.80 and vice versa. Brushes F brushes with .010 off the trailing edge and a 2mm hole in the face. Green springs.

Also if you have one, check spring tension on the springs with a spring thing.

10A is probably a good motor if everything is good on it. But the motorcheckers we use are limited in usefulness anyway. Best way to check is lap times or maybe get someone to run it on a fancy motor dyno if you know anybody with one. But if it drives fast times on the track, keep it for the big heats and mains, you know it's a good one.
Mike thats the old school of thought...I don't run a motor if it's pulling more than 8 amps....usually that means it will over heat and fade. Sure it will be faster for 2 minutes but then you will see your lap times fall off. You can thank todays batteries for having to detune your motors LOL

So what should I do to lower the amps of the motor? would changing the springs do it?

add a slot, cavity, file the trailing edge...basically reduce surface area.

I know this has been asked only about 1 million times so.... I new to RC and I have a TC3 and a epic x and a co27 pro, monstor pro. our track is about 50 by 36. What type of gearing should I do ? Is there a site that list what your gear ratio should be per motor and track size ? So I know when I goto another track. Also I have a 48 pitch now, would it be better to switch to 64 pitch? There is just so much to learn, lol
Thanks for the help guys
Also are the Reedy or Orion stock motor any good?

they are very close but you have to gear up (way up) they have alot of torque, I went up 4 teeth from the gearing for a CO27.

will there be any arguing between the 2? i just put 13.5's in my boys' cars and they run a sportsman class with the rest of the kids and i really don't want to make anyone mad.

Sportsman is generally a drag race to the next board, I doubt they would mind.

Unless your track has specific rules that is.
