You can try and shift your gearboxes left and right to help but my misalignment goes to the 2 o clock position so I would have to lift the tranny box slightly too. The easiest fix I found is just to loosen the tolerance of the drive pin into the pilot shaft. You can see in the pic I've flattened the pin ends so that it has some play in the cup. Now the alignment doesnt have to be dead on perfect.
Molded parts can be very tricky from batch to batch. Maybe Tamiya has added more fibers or slowed the cooling to better hold the tolerance of the molded parts. I had one of the early release cars.
I could've missed the alignment problem on my car. It's probably got the same problem. I gave some room by adding a .1 spacer inside all the screw holes for that cover. Helped a lot

I'll have to try that on my car because it will bind in the same place. If I'm not careful during assembly the drive pin will catch every time the shaft rotates and cause a ticking sound. the fact that my chassis is twisted doesn't help at all.

I don't have the problem your having. But I would dremel some plastic away in that area. It shouldn't take much to fix that

Side note: that pin slid out on me once and I broke a gear because of it. I made a flat spot on the pin and lock tite the set screw. No more problems for me

I just purchased a Exotek motor adaptor just incase if they go out of stock when the new tb04 comes in.

Setup
Tamiya TB04 Pro II Chassis
Tamiya HSV-010 Body
Hobbywing Xerun V10 21.5t Motor
Hobbywing Justock 45A ESC
Futaba 3pl Radio System
Futaba S9551 Servo
Nanotech 4200mah Shorty LiPo

I know this chassis is not ideal for 21.5t motors but the exotek adaptor can get me to 3.50fdr and I have 45 degrees of mechanical timing to play with so I reckon I'll be alright.

I want to get some shims for my tb04 build, to remove slop from the suspension arms, knuckles, c hubs ect.

http://www.rcmart.com/tamiya-53585-s...?cPath=421_520

Does this have what I need?

Also, would it be a good idea to get extra shims for the drivetrain, or does Tamiya include enough in the kit?

I've decided to hold off ok dropping $$$ on the 418 and pick up the Ver II for stock 17.5/ RCGT when it comes out. I try my best not to buy too much blue bling unless it's a useful upgrade. From what I can see.. The pro or pro II do not come with alu steering. How's the stock plastic one? Can you shim the play out or is it a necessary upgrade?

Plastic is plastic. It works fine. But some people will never be happy unless its perfect. I run a box stock car except the spool and ball diff. Car is very easy to drive and put where you want it
