Just a question F201 guys ... i just bought a F201 kit to run on a F1 electric class here in Brazil, but now i see that the class its "2WD only" ...

So ... i woul like to know your opinion about not installing the 4WD transmission of the F201 and leting it as 2WD ... the car will perform good (at least as a F103 or something like that ?) or im toasted ??

thanks !

You can try removing the front transmission and try to run it in practice. Record your lap times. Then remove the rear transmission and install the front transmission and run it. Record your lap times on that. See which one is faster. If you are put up against the F103 cars, you will definitely be at a disadvantage due to the F103 cars are lighter and are direct drive. Not sure about other F1 cars from other manufacturers. By having a FWD car, your will have the cornering advantage, however the F1 pan cars will have better strait line speed.

What I'm saying is to practice with the F201 in both 2wd configurations. Then when you feel comfortable, race it. It's also a good idea to practice with friends to find out where you stand among them.

For shorter stracks, the RR without a doubt.

For those of you running on Ozite tracks with Foam tires (is there anybody??) what width front and rear rims are you running and what compounds seem to work best. Are you cutting them down to a specific width? My local track is carpet and NO rubber tires allowed.
Thanks in advance,
Ray

I haven't run foams myself, but I have heard of people having good success with purple all around or plaid front/purple rear. Not sure what width tires they're using, but I'd guess 26 or 28mm

I and a couple of others run the Ennenti's

Front 26 mm Shore 45
Rear 30mm 45

And use sauce......

Thanks for the info guys. I am trying to gain some excitment for this class at our track (The Gate-where the Nats just raced at).

I could just pull the rtigger and be the first and only guy at track with one and see if excitment builds after running it in practice-but-I am not excatly rollin in cash-so it may take some time.

But the foam tire info is very important to telling people what they need to run the class.

Thanks,
Ray

Honestly, I think you'll generate more excitement if you run rubber tires on the rug. This assumes your track allows them. The rubber tires squeal on carpet just like on asphalt. Whenever we race F201, the spectators always comment about the tire squeal, so I'd imagine that will have the same effect on your track. Pit Shimizu mediums all around is the tire you want for carpet. Sauce is good as well.

Type R is the same with Type RR. Only difference is Type RR is a rebuildable motor.

Compared both, type T would give you mor torque. Type R has more RPM.
