Depending on the class, you will probably need to change gearing to get the final drive ratio around 4 or lower. Mine is set up for USGT and I run the optional gear adapter that accepts other spurs and also use the Yeah Racing motor mount.
Fan on the motor is usually a good thing, especially when you are running really tall gears.

Hi All,
I have not run Silver Can in ages. I am setting up a TT-02 to get my 5 year old son racing. I'll start with the stock gearing, but if he manages to not crash much, can anyone recommend a gear ratio for the torque tuned motor? Do I just drop it all the way down, 5.74?
Thanks,
Jose

With the standard motor mount you can get 5.74 using the high speed gear set, 29T pinion and 64T spur

The yeah racing motor mount is the only non Tamiya part I have on any of my Tamiya cars
The Tamiya mount has fixed holes the yeah is adjustable. That's the benefit. Disadvantage is it's not legal for TCS races

I JUST SCORED!
I've been thinking of making the updates to my standard TT02 to convert it to a Type S (carbon uprights, suspension mount kit, new a-arms, castors and bearing carriers, etc). All told I was looking at close to 150 bucks. I was poking around Ebay and found a store front that looks like they part out Tamiya kits. I was able to snag the entire B bag with almost all the parts I need for 30 bucks shipped from UK to Seattle. ALl I need is the a-arms and rear bearing carriers now. What went from another 150 bucks on a 100 dollar car is now about 65!
