Hey guys,

I just put the mini-cva's with short springs on my min and wow what a difference really stays planted... Since we have the mini-cva shocks on the 05, what would be the pro/cons of putting the shorts spring set on the car? Would it stop the body roll as it does on the mini? Any thoughts as I'm building shocks tonight for a big race on sunday... Have yet to put the car on the asphalt....

Well, the short spring set (53333, i think) is much softer than the on-road springs you'd want to use.. you'll need the TRF Short springs, and they're great. Otherwise, I can't get the ride height lower than 6mm in the rear with my CF towers and yellow on-road springs (same as those shiny ones the TA05 kit comes with). I generally use normal yellow on front, and short yellow in the rear.

Do the Carbon towers drop the shock mounting holes then, if you can't get correct ride height, as with the plastic shock towers and TRF shocks (with the yellow springs they come with) I can get down to about 4mm ride height.

CF towers do sit lower. my shocks are pretty laid down. so i can get to 5mm ride height with TRF shocks.. but the collars are almost all the way at the top

I might have to make a Carbon Fibre copy of the stock platis shocks then.

If you are going to buy a cf shock mount for the rear(TMYA) make sure you do'nt drill a hole on your body YET. STOCK rear body mount have diffrent lenght or widht or the body post location is dffrent.

ANYBODY selling any TRF shocks/damper I need a set.

Cheetahe-
I have a NIB set of red ones with springs, also a full set of used blues and used silvers. No leaks on the used ones & all have threaded bodies. E-mail me at [email protected] if you want pics or to discuss price offline.
Thanks
Doc

The ta04 internal ratio is 2.133 I was able to win 5 out 6 regional races this nyear with a ta04. After the nat's this year, getting a chance to look at all gt-2 and gt-3 chassis. Hands down price, tune ability, quality of the car, and to me, most importantly PERFORMANCE of the ta05 is by far much better than the ta04. The tb02r is just as good in gt-2 ang gt-3, but your really limited on gear ratio's. If your looking for the best car for the money just BUY AN X-RAY HEHE!!!!!!!!

hehe very good company rep juan you racing vegas? i might be there sat/sunday to watch

drivetrain on the 05 is definitely better (more free) than the 04. 05 will need universals instead of the dog bone set up to be competitive in silver can/stock racing.

drove the 05 today with a stock motor.. it was niiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Yes, I'll be in vegas. Need to get a set-up from somebody for my x-ray. Look forward to hooking up and going gambling. And who knows what else.

Paul-
Yes, I got a TA05 (my wife gave me 'an R/C car with all the trimmings' for our 31st anniversary), but am waiting for some parts to arrive so I can finish it up.

I'd say it's the future of the GT3 class- very low drivetrain resistance, very tunable, etc. It will take some time for people to figure out what really works and what doesn't, but people were able to just throw them down and go as fast- or faster- than their TA04's at the Nats, so with a little time...who knows?

I'm thinking of using mine to do GT2 and GT3 this year and skipping Mini altogether...
