If u order the RtR version then you might want to swap out the esc, motor, servo, get yourself some cvd driveshafts if you plan todo any real racing . If just parking lot racing then just run it out the box
Yah, got the RTR version. Couldn't resist a killer deal from Tower Hobbies.

I'll be doing mainly parking lot races with friends.

I just made a graphite chassis for the Ofna GTV2e. It's now available at snrgraphite.com.

Was finally able to run the GTV2e and quickly found out how terrible the stock esc and motor are from Toro. Very glitchy and rough starts.

New tires are also a must!

Great product from SNR. I love my cf chassis and towers. Just a heads up. When installing my chassis, I had fitment issues at the opening for the spur gear. I had to notch it a few mm in order to fit.

Anything else I should do before running it besides checking all screws and wheel nuts?

This car will be mainly ran in races, not for straight speed also.

Cheers

You should put your GT-V2e into a plastic bag and then the bag into the trash. Should have bought a Kyosho from the beginning!

If you keep your car, use a brushed motor and NIMH...will be better than what you've got.

Cheers...

I have one, yes the RTR means Ready to Repair, but once you get past the initial issues, its actually a pretty good car, i did have to go through and loc-tite screws, loc-tite the drive cups, then i pulled the motor and esc out, put a hobby wing 150a esc and a Tacon 2000kv motor, set on a 28T pinion and it screams. ignore the person who said put it in a bag, you'll find more Ofna's on the track than Kyosho's, which are really just over priced Ofna's. (lots of interchangeable parts)

I'm running Apex RC tires from ebay, they hook up really good on pavement

GT-V2E is the same as the Team C GT8LE. Both better designs than the extremely dated Kyosho. Both are very capable with better turn in than the Kyosho. All good cars and really fun to drive.

Default Just ordered my GTv2e Pro

So I pulled the plug and ordered the GTV2e Pro today (my first electric car) thanks to all the informed information from this thread and the many youtube videos.
Are you guys running 3's 4s 6's or 8s on this car? Im thinking about getting the NEU 1521 motor. I want to break the 100mph barrier but still maintain some road course agility.
Any opinions? All are appreciated!!

Check out my GT-V2E road to 100mph series I did on youtube last summer. I documented a bunch of stuff I went thru.

Deciding on batteries now, Should I go with two 3s or two 4s?
I'm looking at a SMC 3s 11.1V 6500mAh 70C or 4s 14.8V 6500mAh 70C

Major question: Whats the difference in performance between the two?

A lot

While some have broken the 100mph barrier on 6s, 8s will get you there in a hurry. Don't forget to use the fastest and most stable top-speed GT car body available, you'll be glad you did.

Good luck!

So lets say I went with 8s, is it considerably heavier than 6s? Will the car still handle nicely on a track or will the 8s or would it be to heavy for the turning demands of a track?

Setting up a GT car to break the 100mph barrier will be an entirely different animal than a track racing one.

The differences needed in ride height, gearing, diff & shock oils, and motors will make it very difficult to do either extremely well. It will be very difficult to impossible for your new project to serve two masters.

A GT car traveling at speeds in excess of 100mph will need to react much different than speeds about half that figure found on race tracks.

As you mentioned, battery weight will also be an issue in track racing too, since most track cars usually run 4s.

Maybe a top-speed goal of 65-70mph for a dual purpose GT car might be a lot more realistic. Hope it helps, good luck.
