New to T4
Coming from RDX PHi '09, TC5 and TC6:
- partnumber 308092 shock foam insert. Use or not?
- drill shock cap. Yes or no?
- green slime needed when building the shocks. Yes or no?
- Spec-R CVD Universal Swing Shaft V2 is said to be better than the ones from XRay?
Other very specific things I have to buy with the car and or take into account? (not in general but the ones that are typical for the T4)

- partnumber 308092 shock foam insert. Use or not? I do not run them not sure I've heard of anyone using them
- drill shock cap. Yes or no?T4 Shock caps are predrilled
- green slime needed when building the shocks. Yes or no?I use muchmore shockslime
- Spec-R CVD Universal Swing Shaft V2 is said to be better than the ones from XRay?I think Xrays ECS shafts are hard to beat especially the new ones with the 2mm pins
Other very specific things I have to buy with the car and or take into account? (not in general but the ones that are typical for the T4)Springs, Upper bumper brace and a hard bumper are really the only thing you might consider getting

Funny I had nothing but problems with Spec-R shafts. The main drive pin with the super short 1.5mm set screw always comes loose cause you can't tighten it enough due to stripping the set screw and then you lose the drive pin on the diff side. Then when I red loctited a norm set screw in and ground it flush with the end of the bone, I started bending shafts. Not to mention the countless joint pins I went threw while trying to solve all these other issue's. Then on top of that they used a stupid 5x10x3 inner wheel bearing.
Maybe the V2 is better piece but personally I would rather buy the new style Xray with the beefy 2mm joint pins.

This is my opinion only. Any time you have a grub screw with dogbone/ axle you are going to have some problem. I had the Tamiya TC and some 8th scale buggies in the past. The problem free idea was have a "spring collar" is what I call it. The metal ring fit around the axle and locking in the axle pin.

RSD DCJ V2's (Reflex Racing) is another option. Good quality and use same captured pin design...so far, so good on durability with no issues.

In the past, I had an XRAY ECS shaft fall apart and it was destroyed. The cost to replace the part didn't justify replacing, so I purchased another brand who offered what I felt was a better drive.

A great article here from Xray detailing how they go about developing a new car (in this case the XB4). Now we know why Xray parts are so good (and cost a little bit more - you get what you pay for!).
