Does anyone know, if bd7 2015 alu chassis can be used on bd7 2016?

Hey guys, I picked up a cheap sensorless Hobbywing motor and ESC from Amain. I just tried installing the motor and discovered it doesn't fit! There's nothing in the manual stating any diameter specifics. This is a 540 motor, the edges are a sharp 90deg. so it hits the upper deck, too much to lightly modify the motor or upper deck. I have a 96T spur and a 35T pinion and the space is huge.
I'm gonna have to return it. Is there a specific type of motor I need to order? I now realize I'm gonna need a motor with chamfered edges. I was hoping to do this on a budget to get my feet wet and have some fun, then go with something much nicer later on.

It's a 4300KV motor. The largest pinion I have is 39T. I only have the 96T spur looks like I'll need a few larger spurs too.

Yah, I think I'll have to look at a different motor. Just my luck to pick the only motor that doesn't fit! What's a good ratio for quick and fast?

I'll give it a shot, seems like I'll have to shim it a lot though. Def. need longer screws too.
Thanks

apologies re suggesting the 9T HW combo. I haven't owned one of those motors since my first entry level RC... and then remember about the manual noting that you need a chamfered motor.
