My question is about what is the difference gearing a 13.5t boosted motor in a yokomo 2013 , with 105/41 64p ( this is the gearing I am using now , the motor temp is about 82º celsius , The track is about 200m , straight about 60m.
and the other gearing is : 90s spur / 40s or 50s pinion . What of these two are better and why?
Iam trying to reduce my laps time and reduces the motor temp.
The motor will run cooler, with the second way of gearing?
I will really appreciated your help.
Thank you!!

105/41 is about 5.1:1 which is over geared. 90 spur will make maters worse fdr around 4:1 and is perfect for blinky gearing.

I suggest you try a smaller pinion and larger spur to bring the fdr to 6.5:1.

Need some help!
I keep stripping spurs, got a bd7 2014 . Running 13.5t blinky, 96/42 . Not sure what i'm doing wrong but it's driving me mad. Motor bearing ok, mesh seems ok. I ended up tightening the nut so hard that it rounded out and still stripped the spur. Any help much appreciated! I had a thought maybe the wiring was a bit long on the esc forcing the motor back but i'm clutching at straws

Mesh is not okay.

Okay, we're not clairvoyants here to know what you didn't tell us, so I'll have to make a lot of assumptions. Drivetrain is free, you're not pinching bearings, you've got the correct pitch, you didn't catch some crap in the gears (you're not running 64 pitch in a parking lot type track, are you?), etc.

To make sure the mesh is right, you need to attach the spur holder in the car but with the belts disconnected, and check the spur runs freely. Then set mesh and check backlash. Hold motor pinion still and move spur with your finger. You should feel with your finger a tiny bit of movement before pinion is engaged. Now run the spur through an entire revolution. Is there any sticky point? If there isn't, you've got a clean mesh. If there is, re-adjust mesh at the hipoint to make sure that clears correctly and test again. If the mesh is good at the hipoint but very slack elsewhere, your spur might be out of round, your holder might be misaligned, pulley wobbly, bearings rooted, motor shaft bent, pinion verschnickered, etc.

I have a BD7 RS and found the plastic center pulleys were so out of whack I couldn't use them (cheap plastic mold) so bought some Team Durango pulleys (I don't like aluminium belt pulleys) and these were perfect.

Lastly, check your spurs for out of roundness before using them. It happens that they're totally crap from factory. I have also found spurs marked incorrectly (wrong pitch) from reputable manufacturers.

You don't need to overtighten anything. That in itself is a sign something is wrong and you should address that before blaming something else.

motor mount screws i overtightened to try to stop the motor moving, indoors carpet probably. All 64dp , i ran a bd5 for a couple of years all be it at 17.5t with no problems.
But i've stripped 4 spurs now and i've had enough!
Drivetrain is free, i will get some pictures when i get another panaracer spur as i don't have any flat headed screws for my other spurs.
