if you click on the page it comes up (a bit small) but if you run your cursur over it the Expand Icon comes up in bottom right hand corner ,then you can read it when it blow`s up

just the cards didn`t fall he`s way in the finals

Default Chris Grainger setup Book

Can anybody get it copyed up on this thread to see
My booklet is so faded it`s real bad to copy ,a racer asked me ages ago & i still haven`t got round to it sorry Martin

Also can some tell me if chris still uses the std BD setups or does he use HPI front end
And also does he dremel 2-3mm of the back of wishbones to shorten the wheelbase trick
so arm spacers read 7mm-0mm instead of std 4mm-0mm

Not sure I agree on that one

There were quite a few on us right on the pace and Finals can aways be a tricky affair at times

i`m hoping your not as fast with that 007 then you was with the cyclone

any way no swearing on the BD thread ,this a cool car to drive so easy aswell & very forgiving

I've noticed that there seems to be a lot more BD's on tracks in the UK. If so, how is the car doing against the 007?

Everything here is Xray / Cyclone / Tamiya.

Few racers even know what a BD is in this area and have little interest.

Default Setup help

hey guys
Need a little help, I'm racing my BDM on carpet with foams tires.
needs a little help please.

the car is pushing on mid turn and exit on throotle.current setup is

4 degree caster blocks.
rear pivot blocks no shims and 2 degree rear block
front pivot block has 1mm on inside front block.

rear springs = green (white type) third hole from outside on shock tower.
front springs = was using orange (white type) but switch to corally silver 33pounders. third hole from outside on shock tower

.5 degree toe out on front.
1 degree camber all four corners
front droop = 1.5 over ride height or 6mm on gauge
rear droop = 2.0 over ride height or 5 mm on gauge
3 holes shock pistons
ti coated shock shafts.
70 weight Associated shock oil.

using the stiff Yokomo chassis.

only getting around 10 degree of turn radius on my integy setup gauge when compared to my RDX which i can get 16 degree of turn radius.

I know the car can do it, since i had it dialed at my prior track but new track is a medium bite track very technical layout.

Olhipster. Have you tried a little front kickup....adds caster? You should get a ton more steering on entry and mid turn. I posted earlier that the car felt twichy with kick up but the silver front sway bar took the edge off and it's dialed.

Raising the rear roll center and or adding some rear anti-squat will give you more on power steering.

I'm running orange front springs and yellow rears (new yokomo's) and much lighter damping but the same droop as you are. Tires are Parma - purple / plaid as you advised. Right now, I can turn inside anything on the track. Also running the graphite arms, hubs and blocks (big difference over plastic).

Hope this helps and I'm not just rambling on.

Will try raising both rear pivot blocks inner and outer.
I worked on the car yesterday.
placed the pivot balls on the most outer hole of the steering plate that gave me an extra 5 degree of steering. that should help out a bit

Will try to use Parma Indigo and Magneta tires this coming week..should give a lot more grip on carpet.

I might try the SDW arms to get a bit more initial steering and perhaps will shorten the camber links in the front. That should make the car quite bit more reactive for initial onpower steering and on exit.

This might be a bit of a noob question. But what exactly is kick-up, and how do you adjust it.

kick up?
Simple way of explaning is the angle your hinge pin are angled (when looking at the side of car).
If you place the blue spacers under your front outer pivot block you will have kickup.

So let's say you are using 4 degree front caster block and then add 1mm spacers under the outer front pivot block you will now have a total of 5 degrees of caster.
Now reverse this 4 degree caster and place the spacer under the insider front pivot blocks = 3 degree of caster.

Please note if you raise both pivot blocks equally you are not adding any kickup or antidive but you will raise roll center (a whole other adjustment).

Hope I got this right if I didn't I blame it on a lack of sleep but if I did I just say it's all that Uber experience I have
but if it is wrong someone please help out.
