Hot Bodies Cyclone
#5566
Yo fellas...
Man, it's been a long 2 weeks. Get back from Vegas and work sends me on another trip. Just got home no less than 20 minutes ago. I guess I'm still on Vegas time.
The setup everyone has been looking for, the one I used in stock at the IIC, is basically identical to what Tim Stamper posted the page before this one. He got the setup from me after making a pretty good deal on a trade with another driver.
The only real differences between our setups is tires. I ran normal fronts (Cyans). I was also using Jaco 28mm 2 Stages. Ya ya, I know. I run for Parma. For whatever reason, earlier in the week, I struggled with grip - yet everyone else seemed to be ok. I tried soo much stuff on the car except for tires. When I did change tires, it basically band-aided all the problems the car had. Once Larry Fairtrace woke up and put Cyclone down ( in the 3rd round of qualifying ) - he ran normal Parmas ( Cyans and Magentas ). His car was unreal. For me, it was too late to change back though. The last thing I want to do is change something that big on the car when I know I can do well with it the way it was.
And Chicky, nice dig at me there. I'm still your biggest fan.
One thing that Tim's setup didn't include was the use of any type of bracing on the BMI chassis. Because the grip was soo low, I did not run the corner braces. I did, however, use the center brace. All I basically did was bridge the 2 bulkheads together. I've seen other people on here do the same thing so what I did was nothing special.
Any other questions guys, just fire away. I'll try to help the best I can. I'm not a setup genious by any means, but I do OK.

Here's the foam setup Andy and I ran at the IIC... I think it influenced some other ppl's setups

Here's the rubber setup....
Hara ran his car differently...but I'm not entirely sure about all of the changes... I have some ideas...but can't say for sure!
Sorry!
This is pretty much what the rest of the team wound up running.

Skuba- on the foam setup you show the rears sus. arm spacing as 3.5/2.0, is that a typo or did you mod the arms or mounts???
Also, you ran a heavier shock oil on rubber tires but a thinner oil for foams?
Maybe you had some hottie giving you a lap dance while trying to fill out the setup sheets, that would explain it!!

Guo is correct in that the BMI chassis requires different rear arm spacing than the standard chassis.
And with regards to the shock oil thing... that is simply what worked best in the rubber car!
I started out w/ 50wt w/ 3 hole pistons in the car and as we went thicker in oil the cars got more manageable.
In foam I tried 60wt oil all the way around as well and while it may have made the car a bit easier to drive off of center I don't really feel like it made the car any faster overall.
