Just a quick question,
what kind of gear ratio should i run on my cyclone with a 6x1 Reedy Ti and largeish outdoor track?
i'm guessing 7.5:1? or 8.5:1?

On the rear diff yes when the mark is forward the belt will be at its tightest but the front belt will be at its loosest when the mark is forward on the front diff.

The easiest way to tell is to take the ecentric holders out. It's pretty obvious where there's more material in them to space the diff out (thus tightening the belt..)
Rayman - generally speaking. More droop equals more grip as that end of the car can roll more and place more weight on the ourside wheel. Grip is a function of friciton co-efficient and weight.
In your case - more droop on the front will create more grip.
For the front:
Softer springs
More droop
Softer damping
For the rear:
Harder springs
Less droop
Harder damping
Can't really advise you on what I use. It's very much dependant on the track surface. Try the kit settings and increase the droop a little at a time.

i dont entirely agree with the above statement, i have found that running more droop on the rear will give you more steering due to the weight being allowed to transfer to the front when cornering, and vice versa.

But there is a need to generalise these situations. Otherwise we would be here forever.

i know exactly what you mean, what i would suggest is set the droop on the car to 5 all round, try it and then try 1mm up or down front and rear (1 at a time though) and see what happens.
this is better than saying do this and do that.

lawtonHOTBODIES!-the mark on the diff eccentrics is the thickest side of the eccentric. If its pointing away from the center of the car, the belt tension would be loose. Pointing it toward the center of the car, the belt tension is at its maximum. Of course you could go with it pointing up or down to adjust it in between and depending if you rotate it around the top or around the bottom it also affects the diff height by a 1 mm-1.5mm.

has anyone tried running the diffs at different heights and what have you found?

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I will try to get my site with some of this stuff on it over the weekend early next week. I gotta wrench on my car this week though.
I had been wondering about loosening up the belt some for stock and 19t.
As for diff height, I know on my jrxs that was a good tuning option.
