So looking for advice. Put the car back together to run some USGT. I still have a lot of spare parts so why not

Anyway, see attached photo. What I am experiencing I need to check is 'normal.' The 2 bearings pictured are 'sliding' and this is causing about 3mm of play left/right on the spur gear shaft. The mesh of the gears stays OK but not sure if this is going to be an issue.

Is this because the bearings are worn out? Or is this normal? It has been a while since I've run the car.

Thanks.......

Shim in the 'open' areas I have the arrows pointing to, correct? That is what I am thinking

yea, they should since the TCX and TCXX all use the same suspension arms, knuckles, hubs

might have to space/shim your steering rods so they are still fairly parallel like on the original arms - but shouldn't be too bad

i'm sure there is somewhere - especially for places that still run foam TC... for rubber TC, don't think there's much of a need for it anymore

thanks for the help all, I actually found another box of spares that I had forgotten. So with the spares I had already, and electronics, I was able to build a second Cyclone today

the assembled car is 'run wherever I want to' car with a Mamba Max 5700kv; the bottom car still needs the shocks rebuilt and will be raced in carpet USGT

*shimmed both spur layshafts to reduce play as suggested by CraigMBA

Part of the problem is that you have the C shaped middle deck upside down in your car. The side with the wider notch that is over the bearing by the motor in your picture should be on the other side of the car. If you have the instruction manual refer to page 10, top left of the page shows the correct orientation of the upper and middle decks (narrow notch of the middle deck should be on the motor side of the car). Keep the drive gears as close together as possible so the belts line up then put just one shim between the motor side drive gear and the bearing, which will now fit nicely under the narrow notch of the middle deck. When done correctly, you end up with a little side to side play and both bearings securely held down by the middle deck.

If you have questions I'll take a picture of my Cyclone TC and send it to you.

petit RC has many setup sheets. Just look for one that has characteristics of your track. As for parts, many of the suspension parts carry over to the Cyclone TC, TCX, TCXX. Amain and Stormer still carry parts for the car
