so you should start at the minimum voltage to have the maximum amps available.

I had a problem just like that with the motor run-in. @ 2 volts the charger stopped, but @ 7,2 it worked. The problem was that my powersupply was set at 14,5 volts, but at 12 volts everything worked as usual.

I need some baseline help. I will start using my Advantage tomorrow night and dont want to have watch my charger like a hawk on my batteries.

I have always used between 20 to 50mv setting on my T35GFX for my batteries. What is the equivalent setting for a 4-cell pack and a 6-cell pack as the Advantage is rated at /cell. I want my GP3300's to peak no higher than 130 deg F and my IB3800's to peak around 125 to 140 deg F max.

Also-any tricks or dos and donts with this that could ruin a battery pack or really make a pack scream? Anyne prefer a Mah or temp cut-off over using a delta peak and also-any tips on how to combine these to safegard a pack? Lets say its set at a delta peak value AND a temp cut-off or Mah cut-off? How do you recommend this be done?

Thanks,
Ray

Ray,

Just use the same mV/cell setting whatever number of cells you charge. I use 3mV/cell, which equates to 18mV delta on a 6-cell pack or 12mV delta on a 4-cell.

The charger works out what overall delta to use based on the charging profile, i.e. how many cells you tell it it's charging and what delta per cell to use.

I always use the temp cutoff as well. I tend to use the first (7A on ours) portion of the step charge to give the packs a final kick before a race, cutting off at around 32 degrees C.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out the Reedy set-up as well.

All went well on the first night with the charger. No suprises, but I am wondering about the thermal shut-off. I had it set at 50ºC, but I think the unit was shutting off on delta peak after 50ºC was achieved.

I read the instructions, but I am not clear if delta peak takes precedence over temp and/or how to make it peak on temp instead.

Thanks,
Ray

hi ray, i use this charger and what you maybe seeing is the peak detection cutt-off at 49 or even 50 but by the time you checked the temp it had risen. the temp reading doesn't stop at the end of the charge.
the temp, peak, mah settings will stop the charge when any one is reached.
