We will be going to Vegas next monday to meet with the stardust and get measurments for planning.
This will be my 1st trip to vegas. So in between poker, lappers and drinking, i will manage to bring a camera .
We will be posting pictures of the ball room here so you get an idea of the facility.
Stay tuned next week! (if i make it back)

Hoosierdaddy-
And the cool thing is it's all a business write off....
Did you ever find some one with a video of the second AAA main from Novak this year? If not I have one. Send me a PM.
Hey everyone, still looking for someone to split the cost of a hotel room.
Mike Turner

What's the plan on multimedia coverage? I know there was mention of stats and things being on the Internet live, but what about video?
You can do some pretty interesting stuff with Nullsoft's (the WinAmp guys) video streaming through ShoutCast. If you're going to flood the ballroom with 802, it's entirely possible to point a camera at the track and broadcast it real time. If you can get audio from the announcer, you could easily use that as the audio feed for the video.
I've done this a couple of times for large online parties and conventions I've hosted/attended, and it works perfectly. Bandwidth becomes a bit of an issue, but there are ways to address that as well.
In fact... if you've got 802 and a laptop and a head mounted camera and a microphone, while you may look a little stupid*, you can very easily strap that to yourself and walk around interviewing people for the live video feed. :-D
* The camera mounted on your head looks a little silly. Plus, depending on the signal strength of your 802, you may need an external antenna on your wireless card (Orinoco makes one). You can stick it all in a backpack though, and minimize the geek factor.

Ahh, yea, it may be hard to get good enough frame rates to make the video thing feasible. An audio feed of the announcing would be really slick, especially if you could interview drivers or something after races.
You can get servers with no contract for $99/month at ev1servers.net, and a pile of bandwidth for each one. On a number of occasions, I've leased a few to handle high-bandwidth needs, and cancelled them a month later. I think you get 1500GB or something right now.
Glad to see you're giving the event some techie love. If I don't end up going, at least I know I won't get any work done that week. :-D
