Definitely setup and more importantly, driver. I have a "good" setup on my car. A more consistent driver that hits there mark every lap is still faster than I am with my own car. All About consistency.

Yep

DRIVER 85%
SETUP 13%
EQUIPMENT 2%

Thats the formula in every class out there, not just vta.

Imagine where he'd be with a little extra "ooomph".

I truly meant what I said as a compliment, not a slight. I have had the pleasure of winning against and losing to Brian.

That's why I won't run 17.5NR, the top guys have a new or different motor and/or battery every month

At the Reedy race most of the top guys in NR where smoking the motors every run

VTA is so awesome because we have one motor!

Unfortunately around here, Scale Spec/VTA 21.5 outdoors is like this as well.

1. Not true. I run with some top guys and they are not replacing motors/batteries every month.

2. Not true. I was there. Some motors smoked...but that happens everywhere.

3. I agree. The reason I am building a car is to test how good "I" am. With motors being so consistant, it really put pressure on the guy behind the wheel!

yes the team powers guys are sticking with their fast motors, other brand racers are switching...

NR motors do smoke everywhere, I wasnt saying the track caused it, as you said "some motors smoked" that was my point

U can swap, replace or burn motors in every class, not just 17.5, same goes for the batteries.

Last time I checked, usvta rules allow 3 motors, not one.

Three motors from one manufacturer who says they are all equal.

Do you disagree with Novak?

I said what I said. It is very clear.

As for your second question, you dance with the one that brought you.

If you need that explained: http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...0brought%20you

Never seen one smoke in VTA, I have seen many smoke in 17.5

yes 3 from ONE manu.

My point is in VTA nobody switches motor brands because some guy comes in with motor X and you have motor Y and he spanks you and you go out and buy motor X.

That is Exactly what I see happen in other spec classes all the time

The stator on all 3 novak motors is the same from what I know so basically its the same motor.

All ROAR 25.5's meet their rules and specs but that does not make them all equal in speed or power. If that was the case then there would never be any motor advancement with in motor companies once they make a ROAR approved motor.
