For a diversion, how about a few pix of 2 new VTA cars? Well, parts of them are new.. Need longer body mounts for his, and to cut the rears on mine.

My son's car - TT01 underneath

My car - TC4 underneath

None of my four SS motors have quite as much adjustment as any of my four Ballistics, as measured with my tachometer. Despite the reasonable sample size, I'd still accept that this could be manufacturing tolerances, rather than inherent in the design (as my luck always runs like that). I sent Charlie a message to confirm either way. I'll let you guys know what the answer is.

You should post them here too: http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...sion-only.html

Just shows again that a clean stock paint job looks awesome with those bodies!

Default SS versus Ballistic timing range

Per Charlie at Novak:

"SS motors max out around 45 to 50 depending on tolerance, Ballistic motors can be set to ANYTHING, the endbell will rotate completely. You can add so much timing the motor won't even run correctly."

i think it's suppose to be a fun class based on driving skills, plus it keeps the cost down. i know some tracks run 21.5 but don't think that's USVTA rules maybe tracks that want to run more speed, so anything really above 21.5 would be considered touring car. its a spec class keeps everything fare. But in all sports and hobbies if their is away to cheat it will be done. nonak motors have been approved by Roar for vta

In the beginning when the USVTA first introduced the 21.5 powerplant option, Novak was the only mfg who offered it. When it was tested( 4 years ago?,maybe), it was the slowest motor option for the more popular 2s lipo's battery choice for sedan's.(some clubs opted for 1s 17.5's as their area had lots 1/12 racers with used equipment).

Doug, I believe, got Novak to commit to continued supply for VTA use (the motor was being used in oval and pretty much nothing else). As speeds again increased, the 25.5 came out(i think it was originally for crawlers). Once again, Novak was the only one, and the decision was made. Other mfg's have started to produce them....... and I will leave it at that.

Rob, Kevin or may be better to fill in the blanks or corrections

Motor variations have been discussed quite a bit as of late, just an opinion, but if we have 2 motor choices from 1 mfg. Then the odds of "flavor of the week" go away and we tend not to race with our wallets.

Just an example, I didn't particularly like McCreary spec rears on the sprint cars when we went to certain venues with the 1:1, but we ran them to race.Everyone ran the same thing and wallets "seemed" to be a little fuller. :-)

Just to add, there are NO 25.5 motors listed on the ROAR approval list.

to keep cost down. If many companies motors where legal many people, for good reason or not, would be buying the motor of the week. Once that happens you may as well run 17.5NR

One motor makes for closer more equal cheaper racing!

Simple
