Another win for the Exotek F1R3 across the pond in the UK! We had the first round of our outdoor season start this weekend. I qualified 8th in the A main struggling with setup on the new Ride XR control tyre. For the leg 1 final I had the pace to chase and pass cars and finished 3rd. For leg 2 the car was brilliant and I flew past 5 cars in the first lap alone. From there I chased down the lead cars, passing one and pressuring another into error. I finished the race with the win and the overall!
Round 2 starts in 3 weeks but before that I have to setup ready for carpet again with round 4 of the indoor nationals next week.

Hey MikeR
When you run a thrust bearing, do use a grease or oil for lubricant?

Do you use thrust bearing instead of outher ball bearing? Does it just fit, or is there need for mods?

Use this thrust bearing:

Replace the outermost bearing closest to diff nut with:
http://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/produ....asp?p_id=1137
OR
http://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/produ...w.asp?p_id=992
THEN
Instead of cone washers like () install like )(
No special mods

For asphalt I use the standard bearing. It makes the diff free and easy to drive.

For carpet Aaron uses the thrust bearing with awg grease. Diff is action is very slow and helps keep the car from diffing out on high grip carpet.

Thanks for replies.
I have 18 balls in spur and diff was still very bad last race, i found out its damaged outer bearing.. This might help to solve the problem.

HI guys sorry if this has been asked alreay. What parts are needed to convert a F1R2 into the F1R3? I just bought my F1R2 last August and I was seeing if it was more cost effective to swap a few parts or order the new kit. I'm running on Med. grip asphalt and hopefully a new carpet track soon.

You'll need:

plus your choice of either the carbon chassis or aluminum chassis

Thanks for the quick reply.

Dose anyone have a preference on the aluminum vs. carbon chassis?

Hi! Lots of testing so far has shown the best for asphalt is carbon and carpet is aluminum. At least on our Socal tracks.

Looking forward to get mine out on the track again. Had a rough last outing. I found out I had a collapsed thrust cone washer. It was giving me a weird tweak getting on throttle. Funny how you guys were just talking about thrust bearings. Lol. I also switched to the carbon front end with hard black springs. I like it better!
