People like to say it's 20% car, 80% driver, and I agree that if you give a good car to a bad driver you'll lose, where a good driver with a second-rate car can pull off a win, but depending on the quality of your competitors, if you're lacking in either car or driver, you won't get far.

Races are won in the infield section so $$$$+noskill= no win
Skill+cheap gear ( at club level )= probably will win or at least finish a lot higher than the chequebook racer with no ability
