Carpet Setup?
I see alot of asphalt setups, what about carpet?
Specifically what's the latest on diff oil & shock oil with what # piston.
Is it still the 700 in diff and 2k in shock with a 2 hole?

This is strange.
I saw mostly carpet setup in this thread.
As far as I am aware the only asphalt setup that I saw is the one from Marcus and Lighfoot.
Regs
Please find thereafter the setups and that I have gatehred from this thread

racer robert (medium to high traction carpet)
The set up that worked best was:
Front
Shimizu grooved soft
3* caster/2* camber/zero toe
.018" springs
ride height 5mm
7mm wheel hexes for more track width
Rear
Shimizu grooved soft
2* camber/1* toe
stock FGX springs/oil with 3 o-rings used as a bump stop to keep the chassis from bottoming in the corners (really want to just get stiffer springs whenever they are available)
Added 1mm shim to the ball end that the shock connects to for more leverage over the suspension (also to make the spring seem stiffer)
6mm ride height.
racer robert 2 (medium to high traction carpet)
Front
Ride super soft
3* caster/2* camber/zero toe
.018" springs
ride height 5mm
Droop 1/2mm
Rear
Ride super soft
1* camber/2* toe
stock FGX springs 1 hole pistons 80 associated oil with 3 o-rings used as a bump stop between shock body and spring perch to keep the chassis from bottoming in the corners (really want to just get stiffer springs whenever they are available)
Added 1mm shim to the ball end that the shock connects to for more leverage over the suspension (also to make the spring seem stiffer)
6mm ride height.
Droop 1mm
Mugen 10k diff oil
Droop on my car is 1/2mm up front and 1mm in the back
Front droop can be adjusted by shimming between the lower suspension arm and the middle E clip of the kingpin... It's hard to see, but it works flawlessly..

Front
Ride medium slick fronts.
Stock spring.
No spacers under the rear ball.
Approximately 1/2mm droop.
-2* camber.
Caster at 3 notches.
Ride height 3.5mm
Rear
Ride medium slick rears.
Stock spring.
Single hole pistion with stock oil.
0* Camber.
Overall the car is great but it needs some set up work and upgrades. listed below.
Must use titanium kingpins. invert the king pin and leave the center e clip off
Must reinforce the a arms
Need to reinforce the upper deck
car needs nose weight. added 45 grams and made a huge difference
car needs stiffer rear springs
car needs thicker shock oil
Car needs the rear sway bar.
With these upgrades the fgx will he a dream to drive. I kept lifting the inside front tire on every turn because of chassis roll. I did not have any springs so I went a lot thicker on the shock oil and it helped but did not solve the problem. If you are serious about racing this car get the carbon chassis.
2mm droop.
Ride height 3.5mm
liljohn1064 2
Shimizu 0565 and 0561 with stock inserts
sway bar in the rear
stiff rear shocks ( I'm using Tamiya F201 hard springs )
60 weight oil
20 degree rear toe
2 degree rear Camber
0 degree toe front
2 degree front Camber
soft Tamiya front springs
5mm front and rear ride height
21.5 motor / blinky ESC
35 spur
28 - 32 pinion for carpet
34 - 36 pinion for asphalt

MAD916 1 hi-grip carpet track
Front:
0561 Shimizu soft tires
Silver optional front king pin springs
king pin turned upside down no middle e-clip single 1 mil shim under steering block 5.0mm ride height
1 degree neg camber
4 deeg Castor (using link susp)
.05 toe out
Sauce 1/2 inside tire
Rear:
565 Shimizu Soft Tires
5.5mm ride height
2mm droop over ride height
2 hole piston with 65wt
2degree neg camber
1degree rear toe
Sauce full tire
1000CST diff lube
1.3mm sway bar
Thinner diff fluid 1000 cst (may go lower)
softer front springs
More Castor 6d
80wt shock oil
Stiffer rear spring
Car has gotten .5 sec quicker with the following things
CRC red springs 80wt oil
caster reduced to 3d
ackerman shimed out 2mm
1000 CST diff fluid
1d rear toe
***************************************
LIGHTFOOT 1 outdoor asphalt
5mm ride height...
medium Tamiya springs up front...
lube front king pins
0 degree toe out front
soft F201 rear springs
no sway bar
Shimizu soft fronts
Shimizu soft rears... yada, yada...
But the most important thing... 3 degree rear toe and use the thin Tamiya F103 style dense foam insert so you can feel the air gap in the rear tire...
The car is planted... I'm using a 35 spur with a 36 pinion... top speed is good but could be a little better... I think if I dremel out the motor mount hole I could fit in a 38 pinion might be better...

Also try raising your rear ride height to approx 10mm and keep front at approx 4 or 5mm. I also run 700wt oil in the diff.

the rear wing is stock but i have cut out and painted lexan wing sides. the front wing is from a wing-kit that 3racing sells for the 104. I had to dremel down the origional mounting points and drill my own holes but it wasnt that much work. I think it looks like the current f1 front wings so i had to try and make it fit

so what are most people that run on unprepared black top useing for shock and diff oil?
