Today’s progress on the build. I picked up some new diff cases since everything was stripped out with the old ones. Lots of new hardware as well. Everything has been inspected/cleaned/replaced as it should be.

What ball cups are those and do they get rid of the slop?

They are the tc6.2-7.1 turnbuckle eyelets (ASC31305). They do a great job at eliminating slop. They are a bit tight at first sometimes so the needle nose squeeze trick has to be used when they're too snug.

More progress. I decided to take the shocks from my TC5 drift car and rebuild them for use on the TC4 project. I picked up some TC7 shock spring cups (asc31598) and used the leftover tc7 springs I have for my KFR converted TC4. Those with the turnbuckle eyelets (to extend the shocks to the necessary length) really cleans things up. I managed to grab the last driveshaft my LHS had so this car is actually about 80% brand new. Things are extremely smooth and there’s next to no rolling resistance. Next step is to get all the electronics in and get it all dialed in with a good alignment and it’ll be ready to go! I can’t wait to see how it directly compares to the Kaizen car.

hmm? you might just make me keep mine instead of selling it! always wondered if my tc4 could be just as competitive as my 7.1 in vta?

The TC4 is a great choice for VTA and a shaft drive chassis works well with low power 25.5 motors. Shim the diffs on the loose side and add some DryFluid Gear Lube to the internal diff gears and the transmission becomes quite free and smooth.
