Foam, rubber, whatever. As long as they aren't mounted to those gay looking dish or prism rims.

Maybe spec foam could be the novice class, so guys don't have to worry so much about setup and all that.

I thought rubber would lessen the tires I buy, but I have a box full of used spec rubber tires from this summer just like I used to have with foams.. Plus foam cars don't flip over the instant you touch them with another car..
My foam Photon is so fun to drive! Bolt on the foams turn up the Tekin and drop the hammer!

My thoughts on this one are.

I have about 10 sets of four Jaco TC Foams that I will gladly sell real cheap. They are all trued glued and race ready. None are all chunk or anything goofy. They are all trued to sizes ranging from 58.5mm to 56mm. Most are the double pink compound and a few are pink/orange.

Ill take $8 per set of four.

There is a bit more set-up required for foam than rubber. Sure, rubber is a bit more sensitive to set-up changes, but with foam as the tire wears to need to re-set your ride height, droop etc.
I'm not against foam, but it's not so simple for newbies.

I'm about to get back into TC racing, and it'll be on foam tires. I've run TC on rubber and foam in the far past, and remembered liking rubber better since there was no such thing as a chunked tire. I do recall scratching my head at the compound/width/insert/air gap adjustments we have to make, but it sounds like spec rubber now has done away with that.

Oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Season opener on the rug last week... Stock sedan(17.5) open speedo on foam.. What great racing.. After 4 or 5 years not racing sedan it was blast to do battle that close... Little rubbing pushing and seriouse hard laps... Same laptime as stock 1/12 so speeds are great... Current tires hold up exceptionally well also.... Sure is fun to be back on foam and having hooked racer cars fighting around the track.
