something needs to be done about the shocks. Every T3 at my track has tamiya shocks, easy to build perfect. This does translate into a faster lap if your shocks are built wrong.....

Martin has been promising a shock build video for ages, maybe releasing that would help....

I have used some 416 parts to modify my T2007. Also use the similar setup like 416X factory default setting.

I can feel some awesome change in the track, especially the performance in the corner. At least, I've got faster lap time and better turning feel than before.

Looks slick, how did you determine where you holes should go? i.e center lines etc? I ve been thinking on doing this if the next xray has a double crank steering- having said that at the worlds single was faster!!!

95% of the time the driver holds the car from its potential... not the car holding the driver back.
If your not fast enough or breaking too many parts look in the mirror and you will see the problem

I used the vernier caliper to determine the holes. It was impossible for me to make sure the precision. Just want to feel the change of the double crank steering on T2 kit.

BTW, what is a good kit and a better settting?

Everyone's energy is limit. A better kit(setting) can make you consume less energy to control the car on the race line. Then you can pay more energy to concentrate to choose a better race line to win. Just like F1, some drivers always lose the race until he gets a good car or better team.

If we review the TRF416 team drivers' setting, you can find that there is only a little change in different environment. It's impossible to realize it without the advanced design and mature basic setting.

I would like to see Xray go to a chassis more like the Losi JRXS type R. Improve the Losi design and put the quality of a Xray in the car. They have been know to follow in the footsteps of other brands in the past.

What value would you like to see in the next Xray TC?
Value meaning less cost? Or more option parts included?
Sure? Value in a "luxury" kit? They should just offer a top
of the line trim which includes "all option parts" like multi-diffs
aluminum shocks and uprights and match it with a premium
price. At least theres a real luxury option available and still
make the standard kit.

Going back to your first question:
What would I like in the NEW Xray car?
1. Smaller but optimized window of adjustability. I think Xray should find
or introduce an optimized set up that will generally be competitive to
any track. What happens is the average racer/user gets confused with
so many set up options. Wasting time experimenting. In their set up
book you are presented with set up changes and results but theres a
fine print that says "it still depends on surface and tyre combination, etc"
How come other brand kits works on any track with minimal set up
alteration?

2. Offer single or dual bell crank steering. Theres nothing wrong with the
mono bell crank but the top kits today are using dual style steering.

3. Offer a one-piece suspension block but made of shock absorbing but
durable plastic. Although the aluminum looks nice, it's too hard thus
limiting flex. My tc4's stock suspension holder is still holding up since
2007 without slop but still provides smooth action. Unlike my TA05R which
I have to add shims just to eliminate the slop over time.

4. Maintain their high parts quality


5. Re-evaluate their setup book and simplify or give not a starting setup
but a winning setup formula for at least 80% track conditions.

6. Include some basic tools in kit like wheel wrench, turnbuckle wrench,
a plastic camber and ride height guages

7. Include battery holder even if it's made of xray plastic (they can do it
in their shock bodies)

8. Better place to mount transponder

Thats my wish list for the next generation T3

Default I read this alot about setup, but...

I wonder if the ball cups have anything to do with it? They create slop as where Xray tolerances are very tight. Maybe some expert racer can answer this question. Xray plastics don't wear like Tamiya and AE. They have a higher carbon fiber mixture in their parts. I think the ball cups create more slop and with the added high wear parts make the car feel more neutral? I wonder why I read this a lot.

I hope at the very least they moved the chamber links to the bulkheads and revamped some Teflon coated shocks. I could live with that and I would be ok, but I'm not sure that alone would help them against the competition. I hope you thought this out long and hard Xray. Keep my fingers crossed.

Default Xray is in a difficult position right now.

From a marketing standpoint Xray has a problem. The TC6 is cheaper and is a 009 with shocks people wanted on a T3. Here in the US cost will win out. On the other hand, Tamiya has the 417 with all things in a kit and what people think is a winning design. Xray is not considered a budget kit, so where does that leave them? I think Xray is better off going for the higher end market as it is already. Add those titanium camber links, redesigned Teflon shock bodies, 417 style toe blocks, camber links on the bulk heads, option of aluminum twin bellcrank, go natural color aluminum and charge a little less than Tamyia charges for thier car. I think it's a safe strategy and will win them Tamiya customers riding the line. Go with it's higher quality than a 417 and TC6. It's their marketing angle anyway.
