The following adjustments can be made to the 417 to improve duarability.
- Replace the stock Tamiya foam bumper for a Parma PSE XRAY T2 Ultimate Bumper [PAR8053].
- Dremel the wheel axles to be flush with the wheel nut.
- [Already mentioned] Replace the 1 piece aluminum suspension mount with the split type.
- Replace the aluminum turnbuckles with the titanium type (especially the steering turnbuckle - 42mm).
- Replace the aluminum hex ball connector on the steering bridge with 5mm aluminum ball nuts and steel grub screws.
- Replace all other aluminum hex ball connectors with either a steel type or the ball nuts w/ steel grub screws.
- [Thx Geppetto] Replace the stock 44mm with the 46mm steel swing shafts.
- [Thx KHoff7] Replace the Tamiya hub carriers and front uprights with Xray type.

ECS-driveshafts (double-jointed) are pretty comon on the Xray, but that is mainly because Xray normal driveshafts are "bad" / give alot of wheel-chatter, and because Xray made some very good ECS-driveshafts, that are durable.
Unfortunately they are too long for the Tamiya, as Xray only makes 50mm and 52mm driveshafts.

Very nice list. People might not like this, but I have found it very easy to put xray c-hubs and knuckles on the 417, which are much stronger.

Do you have a link for the Arrowmax DCJ/ECS? I've used the Spec-R C.V. Universal Swing Shaft in the past. I'd be interested in giving the Arrowmax version a try.

c-hub 302363 and 302364
Also required are, 302291 steering bushings, and 307221 hinge-pin.
In order to fit the c-hubs on the car you must drill the 417 arm slightly bigger to match the larger xray arm pin. Also the xray c-hubs require some shaving to make them fit in the 417 arm. Once all of this is done you will have an awesome front end.

I have here my Set Up for the 417 on Asphalt with Sugarwather mit Solaris Med Tires from the ETS Rnd3 in Austria.
The best Laptime was the fastest Laptime over the Weekend in the ProStock Class...

White is always for front, and blue for rear when doing carpet racing.
when doing asphalt,its white for front and STILL blue for rear,but you can use yellow for rear as its softer then blue ;-)

The link is as per RL2002 posted. Those who want to get rid of the chattering you can try it. The best thing is its a perfect fit, no modification to the c-hub needed. From the pic it shows the design is identical to the HUDY ECS, however it has got a different design to the HUDY's, the package includes 2 thin bearings, you will need to replace the stock inner bearings with the included thin bearings, so the double joint mechanism is place more into the knuckle. Very clever design. The material use is on par with HUDY and miles better than the Spec R
