i just got the type C's in from post
they seem a bit on the loose side ?! compared to the type A's.
i'ts not a tight fit around the beed of the wheel
+ once mounted and glued you can feel some "open space" between tire and foam.

normal or is something wrong ?

Does the kit come with front spool & rear diff?

Another question I have is regarding using steel swing shafts... I believe I have read on here that some are using 44mm and some are using 46mm. I am confused. I think stock are 44mm (front & rear) aluminum. So is the recommendation for steel in the front only (or rear as well) and should it be 46mm or 44mm?

Steel front, and I've been using 44mm in mine. No problems with length even switching to a 1E/1D front suspension block configuration (Max width)

44mm are fine, same with 46mm. What the 46mm will do is make your spool cups last longer. They sit deeper into the cup where the cup is strongest, less chance of the plasitic cracking and breaking.

Default Few Q's

Just have a few Q's towards the 417. For carpet racing only.

First off, the 0.5 suspension mount shims - Is it worth taking them out and running zero spacers? What would this do towards handling? Would it make the car to planted?

Shock rebound- I've talked to a few guys and some say run 0% rebound, 20% 50% or 100%.. What would be best for high traction indoor carpet? Does the type of motor have an effect on choosing this setting?

Loosing the top deck- I know it sounds crazy to loosen the top deck, but there are a few guys running Tamiya sedans who've done this and works perfectly. What would problems could arise from this?

Spur gear- I assume Tamiya designed this sedan under the conditions for modified racing? I recognize that there are other spur gear manufactures out there, however I found Tamiya spurs are much quieter than after markets.

Weight balance- I know everyone is running different electronics but I assume there will be a general consensus on weight placement (i.e lead weights). How much and where should it be placed.

Right now I'm running a 13.5 no-boost, what would be a good ratio? Below 4.5 fdr? Any one use roll out with rubber tires as a gearing measurement?

Cheers,

Edward

Hi All,
Has anyone tried using the Photon's one-piece thrust bearing on their 417? I measured the 417 thrust washers and the inner diameter is 2.6mm and the outer diameter is 6mm, so it looks like it may work....

Thanks!

Are you guys really going to run run open? Would you mind if a slow guy like myself joined in? Reggie said he wanted to run foam mod, but i just like the idea of running super fast

My 417 is ready to melt faces at Snowbirds! The way it handled at the track today was... sublime. This is a fantastic car.
