My GUESS is that is the difference in the damper stays as well. Perhaps cut shorter to accommodate the taller bulkheads? Maybe someone can measure this? To see if the shock mounting points are the same height on both cars. Anyone converting their X to a V5 might be better off keeping the X damper stays if this is the case.

Hi,

the proto car features a new upperdeck construction which is quite similar to Yokomo. I am sure it will work awesome!

The rear damper stay is the same part as on the 417x so it's +0.5mm. The front damper stay is also the same height but includes some additional holes on the inside. I've never used the front shocks that laid down so I wouldn't worry about upgrading unless you somehow break a tower

PLus I will get the spacer - Panaracer 417 spur gear spacer (#PRS-SPC).

Sorry to keep bringing up the Spur issue, but what's the difference between the
PRS spurs http://banzaihobby.com/radio-control...-spur-gear-64p
and the VSS spurs http://banzaihobby.com/radio-control...-64p-spur-gear

Being new to Tamiya, can I ask Why Yokomo aren't owned by Tamiya, are they? Why would factory drivers be using other company parts? Or is that something that all factories do?

Often testing near-compatible parts is subtle, concealed and out of sight. Todays top-tier cars share a lot in terms of geometry and design.

There is a video from TITC in which a camera man is shooting video in the various pit rooms. While visiting the Tamiya, it is clear that the top Tamiya engineers cover up this mod area of the car. The picture above is a lucky picture of what they have going.

If if works out - they will surely have a Tamiya-blue left/right motor mount for asphalt racing.

I think it is great the engineers have a more open mind in what is working for other programs.

It's interesting to catch that, someones been lucky with the camera.... It's also interesting that they are testing that configuration. On my current vehicle (Serpent Eryx) we can run both a 417V5 style mount, or the BD7 style mount setup out of the box I found the BD7 style to give more mid-rotation than the V5 setup...

How are you finding the serpent ed?

On my 417 i keep suffering from lift off over steer, current setup is 120wt diff oil ( just under 1500cst) 2deg rear camber 1deg front camber, 3 deg rear toe, 0 front toe, 6 frt 5 rear droop, 40wt shock oil, tamiya blue white springs hardest of the 2 on front, 1c fr Fr split 1c fr rr, 1xa split rr fr 1e rr rr. Rear camber links 3 under inside and outside, front camber links 4 inside 0 outside, front shock fully upright rears half way.

Any ideas. Thanks
