Tag Matthias Alfa of course. From Tamiyas current selection the only other body I would run is the Alpine. Im not running the Miata lol.. sorry Joel im a snob haha blue springs in rear 600 cst and red in front 550 cst This continues to work for me since I run on high grip carpet and perhaps my driving style. Im running -1,5 camber rear and -0,5 camber in front Guess, this is now with the Ride Inch up 36 all around?:tire: Great, that you are as trusty to your body as me. For me, Mini has ever been all about the looks. So the chassis has to be adapted to the body. (But I count the first Miata to the classics already, too.) Br, Matthias |
I agree the original Miata counts as a Mini, so does the newest one. It’s just not my taste for a car. I also agree that M chassis is about scale cars that look realistic.. and for TCS you are limited to Tamiya bodies so it remains true to the origin. The original spec tyre was also fine but the rim choice was poor.. multi blade spoke versus the panasport that came with Minis was a bad choice. now with the Ride inch up on semi mesh it’s even more strange... especially on my Alfa. But the added benefit is a better performing tyre with less traction roll. |
I'm tired of this M-06 chassis.

I love my M04 but the battery limitations suck
|
My findings for now is M05 > M04 > M06. But I still have some things I can do to the rwd M04 (change to lipo power) as well as the M05 (handling).
But for the M06 the only thing I can do now is use it for spare parts :D |
Looking for longer rear drive axles to provide wider rear width using the stock 0 offset rims but with wider Hex spacers. Any recommendations?

Tamiya TG10 Long axles will allow up to 10mm hex (from a TT01 wise track kit like an Enzo), but obvs this is for a dog bone driveshaft set up. |
Is there a way to add externel droop adjusters? Its a bear having to tear apart the shocks every time I want to make adjustments.
Thanks, Jose |
No there is not. The tabs that come on the type 2 arms need to be cut because the chassis has no place for them. |

Thanks, Jose A Real Life Tinker Gnome: The Tamiya M06 - Build log, and chassis review. Uh... I understand why people don't race them. |
As someone who raced this platform for 10 years, I completely disagree with the comments from the link you provided. first it’s an M chassis.. and like all m chassis that Tamiya made prior to the “concept” series, they all had inherently flawed design.. that’s what the m chassis was all about the begin with. Many will argue that the M07/M08 killed m chassis and they may well be right. As far as the M06.. on indoor track with black carpet it was super competitive against the M05. I know many top TCS m chassis drivers that placed and won with it indoors. On my first outing at TCS I placed 3rd.. first would be a driver that would become US TCS champ and go to Japan. The reason people didn’t select it as their first choice to race, is because the FWD is easier to drive plain and simple. This will also hold true for the M08. Its fate will be tue same. Majority will buy the M07 because it’s easier to drive and 9 out of 10 at TCS will be running it. One of my friend who is a also another TCS champ picked one up and after 3 races gave up on the M08. Why because he runs on asphalt and is used to using brakes. I told him that he has to change his driving style. “You can’t use brakes on RWD, only drag brake” to which he replied I’m not used to it. The M04, M06, M08 is reserved for those of us that are the RC purist. The outliers, the connoisseurs. We are the ones that run it for its purity. We are also the ones that run real licensed bodies in classes like USGT while the rest flock to the fast bodies by Bitty, Exotek, PF. Piece out :) |
*looks at his scale bodies*
Yup. |
Hahah yeh I see that.. the first one Is the Protoform PFM10 that is supposed to be a McLaren.. oh goodness I put that in the same sentence.. McLaren might come after PF and put them out of business. And there is a even Raikiri.. yep true scale realism |
Restarting the addiction
Hi folks, I have a short story for you.
I have been out of the RC hobby for over 10 years. Within that time; I got into 1:1 car racing, met an awesome lady, played around with motorcycles, and traveled a bit. I now have 2 kids and am struggling to find time to do things for my self. While lamenting these woes to a 1:1 car racing friend, he showed me a scale RC that he had put together to match one of his real cars. We discussed his project for a while and I told him about how much fun I used to have with RC. A couple weeks later, a box shows up at my door... He bought a M-06 Miata kit for me! (He is a seriously thoughtful and generous friend) I just finished building and painting it. I dug through my junk in the basement and found the collection of RC stuff that I never managed to sell or give away. I managed to salvage enough electronics together that I could get it running and only needed to buy a battery. I think it went together pretty well, doesn't look half bad, and is a blast to play with. Even my 2yr old daughter likes playing with, what she calls the, "little car friend". My delusions of winning championships in RC have long gone. But this has rekindled my love for the hobby. I would love to try taking it to a few low level club races in the future. (I am just south of York, PA if anyone could recommend a venue for me) From reading some of these forums, I understand that this is not the best mini chassis to race with. Especially since mine has the friction shocks and plastic bushings. But since I am looking to just have family fun, I was hoping that you guys could help me put together some of the modifications that I would need to get the car ready for a club level race. Cheers and thanks, Jared |
