Been wanting to try one of these Yeah Racing long arm conversions for a long time! I don't race or do TCS, so why not? I love my M06, it already handles very well - hoping this is an improvement. The conversion kit went on pretty smoothly, though I did have a few issues. Before surgery... pretty much box stock M06 Pro with carbon towers. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4353/...0b4b170c_b.jpg Old vs. new. Can clearly see the change in suspension geometry. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4364/...a799c97c_b.jpg Grabbed some CVD's too...well this is no good! Had to add some spacers to the shocks to limit downtravel so the CVD's would engage. Even then, it's just barely in there. Same with the stock parts. Not overly happy about it. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4411/...6d9fee74_b.jpg No problems up front. Better geometry and bearings in the hubs. Smooth as can be! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4335/...e256c5f5_b.jpghttps://farm5.staticflickr.com/4401/...0d95cd93_b.jpg Done! Added Tamiya's swaybar set while I was at it. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4372/...aaa492bf_b.jpg You'd never know what was hiding under there... :) https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4333/...342eea8c_b.jpg And test day! I forgot my turnbuckle tool, so I had some wacky camber issues but the car did great. It was much less darty all around. Very planted into turns, and just a bit of oversteer out. I'm sure it can be tuned further (especially when the camber is sorted out) but happy with the result overall. No issues with the CVD's either. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4371/...cd34a574_b.jpg Having said that, I don't know that I'd buy it again. I don't know that the minor gains are worth the price....it's not a cheap kit. Quality is good though, and everything fit perfectly. & hope i get some response....... |

Greetings from Finland! Have been practicing with SWB 210 M06 for one year. This topic has been very useful in finding different set ups. Thank for everyone sharing all this info.
Weak part in my car is rear body post mount. Where could I find one off these (see pic attached): JAZRIDER - Tamiya - M-Chassis Parts - M06-13008-LB M06 Aluminum Rear Body Post (Light Blue). Or is there some other brand of M06 Aluminum Rear Body Post? Posts it self are not the problem, but mounts are weak. I come from South West Finland city called Turku. If interested in local RC hobby, please visit Facebook / Turunrckerho . We have own indoor track with carpet. In same building are also tracks for SC cars and buggys and drifters. We also have outdoor track for for SC cars and buggy. RC club in next town has an outdoor asphalt track for touring cars. |
What are you guys running for carpet setups for electronics layout? Shorty battery moved forward? back? Wheelbase setting? etc.

I'm driving on carpet and have wt 30 oils and red springs all around. Tires are Tamiya M-Chassis Radial 60D #50683 fully sauced. No sway bars and SWB. Still a bit understeer but biggest problem is flipping rear in a fast left-rigt-left.
I have sway bar set purchased. Where to begin? |

I have sway bar set purchased. Where to begin? 2. Go up in oil way to soft and red springs too soft as well. Rear Try yellow with 40wt and blue with 50 wt in rear 3. Glue front side walls, only sauce inner front 4. Move battery forward as far as it goes |

1. Lower ride height as much as you can. 3 mm front and 4 mm rear

I used to have yellow front and blue back earlier but went to softer reds to reduce understeer and it helped. Could you please explain a bit glueing front tires and only partly sauce? Is it trying front not to be too sharp and preventing back from flipping? How to reduce understeer then? |
StahlVille: we are having the bi-annual Ratamestari race in Riihimäki Finland 22nd of October. Join in!
It is a great opportunity to get setup advice from other racers. Also if your car isn't exactly to the Finnish M-Chassis Comp spec, it doesn't matter. Our idea is to encourage people to race and the rules can be relaxed for beginners. Br Erno |

Thanks for this. 6mm is our minimum ride height. I'll try those oils and springs. I have an other set of Yeah Racing alu shocks and will build up replacements of those.

Is it trying front not to be too sharp and preventing back from flipping? How to reduce understeer then? For now I recommend using the heavier oil and springs only on the rear. Front keep it soft. To reduce understeer you need more weight in front. You can achieve this by moving battery forward, adding weight to front. There is a square pocket in front of battery under steering bar. That is a good place to add weight. You can also add weight under front bumper. This will help you with understeer. If you have the optional shock tower, you can also stand up the front shocks (outer hole position) M chassis tyres have a soft side wall and that causes the traction roll. By gluing the side wall, you make it stiffer. Saucing the inner side will also help with traction roll. Also try starting your turn earlier. You maybe overshooting the turn and making the car understeer. |
Howdy Raman!
Thanks for all of your hints. Ride height in Finland is 6m cause many carpet tracks are not so flat you could drive lower. We even use some temporarily tracks which are made in school gyms for weekend and will be disassembled till monday morning. I tried stocks, springs and oils like you recommended. It helped a bit. The other of two M06 drivers at our club tried my car and told me it's unusually twisting at one side in both braking and accelerating. I had been thinking it's normal with RWD and just kept trying :-) I drove his M06 and it was from outer space compared to mine. Now it looks like one of the rear wheels is having more toe in than the other. Only bearings and schocks are metal, everything else is plastic. Pretty well shimmed though. Where should I begin to seek this extra toe in? |

Where should I begin to seek this extra toe in? good to hear there are M06 lovers in Finland, too! I may be able to help you find your problem: M06 has 2 to 3 tweak flaws that can be fixed, from my own bad experience in the beginning: toe in rear: You have bent an upright, probably by impact. It´s hard to notice the twist on the part itself, but you can see it good with the tire toe. As I switched to alu uprights in rear, I never had this problem again. I never saw an M06 bent at the wishbone mount on the gear box so far. Second problem, that can be yours, is a tweak of the car. The front shock tower can twist to left or right in its mounting holes, which causes more droop left or right front. My fixing was using a carbon shock tower and thread screws with nuts. Use some 3mm Spacers on the screws. The bigger outer diameter gives less play in the upper chassis part helping prevent the twist. Third flaw is a changing camber in rear from run to run. This is a problem of the lower rear shock tower base, where the camber links are fixed: The ball studs twist in the shock tower and are easily bent, resulting in changing rear camber from hit to hit. Fix is the Aluminum shock tower base (Tamiya or other, but Tamiya one is the most rigid version of all). With that fixes, I never had a tweak in my M06 since years. Good luck for your races, and have fun! Will also have the opportunity to bring my M06 out this weekend:tire: Hope to try my TB04 gear diff again after a mounting failure . Br from Germany, Matthias |

Br from Germany, Matthias Vielen vielen Dank für Deine Hilfe. Thank a milloin for your help and advices. I'll check those spots and tell you results. I already have hop up shock towers: carbon at front, alloy at rear. I have to control how precise is my assembly is and perhaps also invest in all rear hubs. M.f.G. Juha |
does anyone have a black carpet setup for M06?
