Front gear diff. question.

I have a quick diff. question....I am running a gear diff in rear with 80wt oil and a spool in front....what would be the advantages/disadvantages of running a gear diff in front with very heavy oil??

Thanks

I did a search on gearing a 13.5 but can't find a good answer. Can someone tell me how they would gear a 13.5 for an indoor carpet track. Thanks in advance.

Blinky or Boosted? Size of carpet track? Which 13.5 motor?

It is the same situation with me in Western Australia.
I have always been an AE guy. I have even run with and for them at several Worlds in the past.
But it has been hard since I moved here. You have some of the fastest drivers in the country here and nobody runs AE onroad. I am the first.
The most common car here now is the new Serpent. Many of the drivers have moved away from the Xray to the Serpent and appear to like the car a lot better.
We have our nationals here at my track in 3 weeks and as far as I know there will be only one other AE car in modified.
More support from AE would be great.

If you run a gear diff in the front use at least 750,000 Diff oil or putty , I'm using putty in mine and it's great on indoor carpet , lots of off power steering , is like a oneway with brakes:)

Blinky 4.5 to a 5.0 , boosted 6.5 to 7 depending on the esc and how much timing boost is used

Probably blinky. I'm just running it till my 17.5 comes in. It's a tekin 13.5. Carpet track I think 80x45-50. Thanks guys.

I run 17.5 blinky and run 4.0 so the final drive marcos gave is in the ball park. You will need to test for time and make sure the motor temp isn't too hot.

I'm running the gear diff in the front also with ball diff in the rear. Car is fast but very predictable off power....

I'm thinking about selling my Top Photon and buying a TC6. Is there anyone that has driven a Photon that now drives a TC6. Just trying to figure out if this will be a good move.

At the Halloween Classic this weekend, I ran a 13.5 blinky (in 13.5 boosted, didnt have time to change car over between that and the 17.5 main)

ran a fdr of 4.24 running a duo 3 based motor at max motor timing, blinky speedo and the motor came off at 158 with a fan on it after the 6 minute main. It seemed to be pretty close to optimum gearing for it. (qualified 8th and ran 7th in the A with this setup)

I went the other direction, started with a TC6 (well, TC3, then into a TC5) then picked up a Photon. All things being equal, they're both good cars.....but I stuck with the Photon. Still have the 6, though :)

PM me if you would like a more detailed explaination, don't want to clutter the TC6 thread.

Thanks Marcos.J, I used to run a one-way, but now I am currenly using a spool and the car can get a little sketchy in some of the turns....I think that going with the front diff. will definately help relieve a lot of the problems I'm having.
