I know its been brought up, but what would it take to convert a Hyper9e? The answer wasn't very clear.

Just shorter shocks all the way around and new shock towers, or would you do a DM1 style front shock setup also?

I am not positive aI am using the front shocks and towers on front and rear. I think later I will put a shorter suspension setup on it, but for now it should work fine. You just need to find stiff springs that will fit those shocks.

How does the Losi 8eGT handle compared to other Gte conversions? Did you need to get stiffer springs?

It was a L8 actually so the springs and shocks are different than an 8 buggy. We didn't do anything to the suspension except limit droop and add preload. It handles real well (Thomas-Zerta beat my DM-1 with it).

I had different tires though. Tires are the most important factor by far. I ran Sweep slicks and Thomas and D. Starks ran PMT's. I tried to get some Sweep treads, but they were out. The slicks did surprisingly well, it was my driving that put me in 3rd place . PMT's seem like they are ticket out there though.

We are going to go to thicker oil (60-80wt) in the Losi and see how that does. You can crank the preload spacer down if you can't find stiff enough springs. It seems light rear and stiff front works best to get the most rear traction.

Thanks for the update. The Losi drivetrain is very light and efficient, I thought it might have made a big difference in acceleration and handling.

Xrays fit and if your using fronts all arround they make some stiff ones

It was great to meet you TeknoRC! It was a shame some peeps couldn't make it. The track was perfect for the GT8's. I failed to take any vidoes though but i hope next month you guys can come out again. Hopefully i can get a car of my own to start running myself next month. They looked like so much fun!
