From what I have heard, this rule will not be changed this season. Like yourself, people have already bought stuff to run this season. Kevin said for the hurricane races he organizes that they will use any treaded tire for this. I believe that the ride tires will only be required at the nationals held at harbor hobbies at the end of the season. Other then that run what you got. I don't think there will be any tire po-po's until the nationals race.

I should be at the Halloween Classic running USGT as well. I don't know anything about these motors you are talking about, but personally I wouldn't care if you ran the $35 motors if it's not some "Outlaw" motor... I don't know about the rest of the people running in it though.

I'm cool with a spec tire for USGT, but it must perform and wear well on carpet *and* asphalt. It should also be available unmounted so we can use our own wheels. And I'd be undecided about tire foam restrictions. I'm leaning toward none.

I agree I dont think this rule change will take effect until the first of the year or later.

Im part of a race series in my area and what we have done for this season's series is that we will allow the old rules to be used for this season....but...we are asking guys when they have to or want to buy new tires to just start buying or using the Ride tires when they can. I dont see why any local track couldnt do the same thing just allow any of the tires in play now to be used and then after the season or what ever just start to follow the national rule set.

As far as the motors the change to the rules closed a big hole that needed to be closed before it got outa hand. I know it sucks but its for the greater good that this hole was closed. If it wasnt then we would all be running out and buying outlaw or some crazy off brand thats not ROAR legal to see if their motor is faster. As it is now most ROAR approved motors are about the same speed. If you still have your other non ROAR motor ask your local track if you can still use it to club race. Just know that if you want to race at a race that is following the national rules set you would need to follow them. Really this is no different than any other class out there. When you go to a ROAR race you have more rules to follow and might need to buy something but 9 times outa 10 you dont need to be 100% ROAR legal to club race at most tracks accross the country.

The tires will be sold with rims and with out from what Im told. The tires come with an insert and this will be the mandated insert...what they come with is a good insert to use all around. We dont want it to turn into an insert war. The tires do work well on asphalt from what we have seen but again not all asphalt is equal so the southern or warmer areas might not see the same results just based off what happens with the VTA tires.

I just got my tires and rims today as a matter of fact. So here is a picture of the insert. It's about the closest thing to a molded insert I have seen that is open cell foam.

I'm not trying to bitch and stir the pot , I have just had some bad timing with this class. I was at a race UF1 race and saw this class run as the second class and really liked what I saw so I came here to research it out a bit , what motors , tires , bodies to run and starting ordering parts. Seemed like the day after I ordered the Trackstar's they were banned ! Like I said but timing . Just don't want to see the same thing happen with the tires I just bought 2 weeks ago .

I fully understand and you are not alone....I just want to show the reasons behind the change to the rules thats all.

They are the same tire not sure if the Dynamite ones are still being sold or if they are just selling off old stock. They had more choices as far as rims in the past and not anymore. I think that they changed when Thunder Power took over Ride in the US. The tires will be coming in as Ride tires and will be sold under the Ride name.

Got question. A local racer gave me these hpi x pattern tires last week, tried them and they worked good. Surprisingly they don't even rub on body like my old one did. I'm at 3.20fdr whrn I run the 24mm slicks but since these are much taller other than lowering ride heigth should I drop a tooth as well?

I'd say it depends on your track size, the tightness of the turns, the ambient temperature, and if you're running fans, etc. Personally, in Texas heat, the tallest I ever ran was a 3.32 FDR with a fan and it would come off in the 150-160 range. 3.2 may be okay if it's a big, open layout that flows smoothly.

Track temp is 120* ambient is around 85ish and have a fan. Just wasn't sure if I should drop a tooth or take.motor timing out to compensate for taller tire

The track is 135x70 it is free flowing. Mr. Juarez gear 3.2 I have the same motor geared 3.5 I lost to him by 3 seconds last race and he had a fast lap .3faster then my fastest lap. We have the same motor close to the same timing our motor temps and we are 1 second slower then the 17.5 expert and as fast as the 17.5 Intermediate class.

Well if you liked where you were prior then I would assume yes you would want to go down a tooth. How do them foam guys calculate rollout??? Maybe you could try that to see the difference. I know the X-patterns are much taller then the Ride tires I used at the southern nationals.
