It’s a spec motor, your supposed to use it out of box without any changes. Ceramic bearings would be a hop up on the motor

robk 07-05-2021 05:44 PM

Huh. Your supposed to run the motor as is. Looks like I have to add an all parts must be OEM clause.

Defeats the purpose of the motor. He would be DQ’ed at a track that techs

At bigger races for indoor carpet USGT, are people using ~5200mah 240-245 gram packs or using 5800-6000 packs around 285-295?

I use whatever weight battery I need to balance my chassis. I use a 5800/245 gm pack in my TC and a 7000/285 gm pack in my USGT.

Also would that be legal for roar or has roar not even addressed this issue for this particular motor as we have a large roar race coming up in a week

I believe it even says in the ROAR Rules the the USGT Gravity motors can not be messed with.

USGT isn't a ROAR class.

5800's are the hot ticket right now. Ultra LCG and weigh in around 242g or so. Discharge curve is nice and have great IR's.

Dan 07-07-2021 07:28 AM

Awesome, thanks guys. Is the 5800 R1 battery (~245g) the only option in that weight/mah range?

So guys I have a question is it legal to replace the bearings on the usgt motor by gravity with ceramic bearings? at our track we are fighting for 4 to 5 tenths among say the top five guys one guy went and bought several us TT motors and changed out the bearings and was able to get almost a thousand more RPMs out of it he is currently our leader I personally believe the boaters should be required to be run as they come out but everybody knows in this hobby people will do whatever it takes to get that little extra edge just like in real racing so my question is is illegal to change out the bearings since the motor is rebuildable it does have none adjustable timing thanks for any input.... This is the gravity RC usgt motor

Better keep a very close eye on the Serpent guy in particular.

never fails there's always that one guy that has to cheat in the spec classes , might as well just add 5 degrees of boost

Has anyone ran the Montech Racing Akura GT3 yet? Been wanting to try it out but haven't heard or seen anyone running it.

sonic31 07-07-2021 03:27 PM

It should be illegal to change anything on that USGT motor, there's a reason why its a spec class motor and adding ceramic bearings to it is flat out cheating.

JayL 07-07-2021 03:48 PM

So what bearings can you run then when/if they get gritty?

Stock only? Avid? some other brand? Have to buy a new motor?
Can you clean and lube? can you pull a shield? Can you run rubber shields or only steel or vis-versa?

Surprised ceramic single shield aren't banned in the car too.

Where do we stop and just admit we lost, not because someone had 'other' stuff?
