Because to be a GT car you need a trunk?

OSherman 04-30-2021 10:02 AM

I believe they all have trunks to some extent. How ever big or small, front or rear.

Even some of the ‘prototypes’ just to skirt the rules.

funny

For medium/low grip asphalt the more ballooned the better and comes about naturally with many miles of use with lots of traction sauce used. The ballooning creates an airgap that helps with the traction. These beat up 3year old tires, even with the grooving, are .5 seconds faster than my newer ‘flat’ sets.

thanks Mike! My practice set will be my new main tire. It's not as worn as that one but almost 👍
On your car, is the F/R balance the same, just faster? Seems a bit rear loose to me going from flat to the balloon tires.

also there already is an NSX available

It's just more planted over all for me. I was practicing with the 'newer' sets at SD and the track definitely felt slippery (loose and pushy). I swapped to the balloon sets just to confirm and the car was great thereafter. But yeah, I try and save the old sets for the races. I haven't bought new sets of Gravity tires in years. Carpet racing I hear is the opposite.

Question about what you guys are running as an FDR for USGT on carpet… I was reading and some people were saying somewhere between 3-4 but then I am looking at all the setup sheets on petit and they are all like 7+…

really confused on what to start with.

I have at 96t/64p btw

OSherman 04-30-2021 10:36 PM

3-4 sounds about rite on a track with main straight around 80ft+ long.. infield layout may have a slight impact on gearing. Motor choice. Etc.. Really depends on size of track and when you want to ‘top out’..

$0.02

Check what motors they are using in those set up sheets they are probably not 21.5 with those ratios.

I run 92/54 for a fdr of 3.23 and most at the same track are within one tooth of that ratio all on the USGT motor. This is with a T4 '20. The same ratio comes out to 96/56 if you have a 1.9 diff. The T4 couldn't fit a 96/55 we all changed to 90 or 92 to give some gear options.

cool thanks. They must have changed something since the T4 18 because I currently have a 96 on the car and it’s fine… ordered a 48 and a 52 pinion this morning to try out a 3.8 and 3.5. We’ll see how it goes!

this is true, good suggestion.

it’s a little difficult to find a good USGT setup sheet to start from, does anyone have one that they like??

Just a thought but when you go to grippy tires your car will body roll more and bottom out. My rear shocks are firmer than the front to keep it level and carry the extra speed the grippy tires generates ;) Try the next firmer rear spring and see what happens.

"Something" The T4 20 / 21 is a mid motor car with a completely new motor mount among other things.

skimax 05-03-2021 01:25 PM

Just got my car fired up for the first time today. Can’t wait to get out there and start racing!
