Didn't fiqure it made a difference (except in rain conditions

Hey guys, like I said before I love to see photos of your cars so I will contribute with some photos of my Porsche 911.
It sits on a Tamiya 417x chassis powered by a Fantom ION 21.5 (D3.5) motor.
It seems to handle much better than the BMW M3 I posted photos of earlier.
The colors are a little washed out from the Florescent lighting at the track as the yellow is much more vibrant in person.
The yellow color is more like the indoor photos show.
I just added blue LED headlights and red taillights like on my VTA Javelin but have not taken photos yet.

In my quest to decide on a new body, hoping someone can answer a couple of questions:
HPI 350Z - any difference between the 2 bodies they make, other than the decal set?
Tamiya Audi R8 - Comparing the lightweight and regular weight bodies. If my conversions are right, the Tamiya LW is still thicker than a Protoform body, so should be strong enough for racing (crashing). Correct?
Tamiya/HPI Porsche - refer my compliment post above.
I hear plenty of good things about the 350Z. Any pros/cons about the Audi or Porsche?

On the 350Z, one comes with the heavy plastic wing the other a lexan wing. I have run both and I think the weight of the plastic wing affects the car. Both bodies work well though.
I am running an R8 now, regular weight I think, and it has taken some abuse. There is a weak spot on the back down like were the exhaust would be. other then that I have had no issues. I did end up having to put the high downforce wing from HPI on it to settle the rear end down, but I was having other issues at the same time. I haven't tried going back to the low downforce wing yet. The stock wing is just for looks, don't even try to run with it.
I have run both HPI Porsche bodies and they just didn't really work for me. I could never really get the rear to settle with either body. They are tough bodies though as neither of them ripped or tore after running indoor and outdoor with them for a season.

Thanks for the detailed response JCarr. Appreciated. I'm entering this class locally, mainly for looks, but coming from regular TC, I obviously want performance too.
The other body I'm interested to hear about is the Tamiya Ferrari 599. Looks quite nice. Would probbaly need a regular TC lexan wing on the back to settle it down a bit though.

No problem, I love running this class because of the looks so with that I usually try bodies other don't/wont. 
A buddy of mine has the 599, but has not run it yet. He's waiting for our outdoor season to start in a couple weeks. I will let you know how it goes with that body as soon as he runs it.

Thank You, it is an HPI 190mm Porsche 911 Turbo body that runs very nice on the track. It has a very low front section giving good steering feel and a large "Touring Car" style rear wing which helps keep the rear planted on our low grip track.
I have run the HPI Nissan GTR body and it was good overall with a neutral feeling. Not as much steering as the Porsche or rear grip with the flat wing design IMO.
The HPI BMW M3 GTR body was a disaster with very little rear grip I believe due to the stylish Tuner Style wing. I would like to try it again with a lexan wing like I have on the Porsche and see how it handles.
Another racer is using the HPI Acura NSX body with very good results in our 21.5 USGT class.

Out of curiosity, what BMW wing are you referring to? I'm running the 190mm BMW GT and it came with a lexan wing shown below. Is this different from what you were running?
Now I don't have a ton of experience running different bodies, but I've been very pleased with this one. The only time it gets a bit loose is just a bit on corner entry and I don't think it's the body's fault. I'm thinking it might be a lack of rear droop. Anyway, I was just curious if our wings are the same....

I think he may be talking about the newer BMW body...
BTW... Your wing is not legal for USGT as is. Technically, it needs to be trimmed to 10mm height. Body looks really good though!

You get two wings and they are tough enough to be reused on multiple bodies. I filled the nubs for the Lexan wing on one of my bodies with Shoe Goo to give me something solid to screw the wing into. The wing for the new Associated Apex looks like it might be a winner as well. Part #31346.
