What I have seen is that the insert starts to become "flatter" but at the same time the tire has become so swollen up from traction compound that it looks like a cycle tire that its very round....and when this happens Im not sure any insert would not have the same issue.
I dont know if that constitutes as too much chemicals being used on the tyres.. If it does then it's not affecting the Sorex, which are lasting a lot longer. The price of the premount spec tyres is the same as a set of Sorex premounts. So they aren't inexpensive. Since this is the only class that uses this tyre and is generating revenue for them, we have leverage to ask for improvements. Maybe we need a carpet version. Never hurts to ask :D |

I sure hope it has cup holders. |
I know that another racer in the NC/SC area has contacted Paul about insert failure. It is my understanding that he is looking into it. If you've had an issue, Paul seems interested in knowing about it.

I don't want to buy the wrong motor The motor is the Team Scream Racing (TSR) 1.0. The new stator design is available in 21.5 for USGT. I'm looking at pulling out the credit card right now! |
Motor info

That's a pretty important decision at the moment. Unfortunately, ROAR still has not ratified minimum resistance rules for any motors other than 25.5, and recently one manufacturer, TSR, has released a new motor with a different stator design that has substantially lower resistance than all previous designs. I'd prefer that had not happened, but it did. Now many racers will spend more money to be competitive. (I proposed minimum resistance rules for the spec motor winds over three years ago, when I was the technical director, and I fail to comprehend why it has not been ratified.)

I do find that interesting, since I don't believe I've noticed any problem with that on my car(I'm on my 4th or 5th set since I got going in on road again with the opening of a new carpet track in my state), but I'm also using something else for traction compound. Over a year ago at a nearby off road track(med-high grip clay indoors), a number of the guys there told me about using Goo Gone(this stuff, exactly: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Goo-Gone-...Spray/17300573 ), & I tried it back to back with SXT 3.0(my preferred "true" traction compound), & I couldn't feel ANY difference in grip overall or lap times, plus I found that the Goo Gone seems to do its thing faster(don't have to wait as long for it to have soaked long enough). So when the new carpet track opened up, I tried it on all my on road stuff(even on the foam tires for my 1/12 scale), & I like it just as much on those. Now I don't know if it's easier on the inserts in truth, but I just haven't noticed any insert degradation so far. Might be worth experimenting with(especially since Goo Gone is downright CHEAP compared to SXT)....
That's awesome If it works, no need to clean thee tyres first. I opened up an older set and 3 out of 4 tyres; inserts were worn / had spots of degradation. There was no disintegration glue coming into contact with them. |
The inserts at our track take a beating. The tires get a round look like a motorcycle tire and if you cut it open the insert looks like a rope.

What you have posted makes sense. We had 1 guy at a recent race with the newest TS "1" and he was hands down faster then the other 39 guys running in the HP department. We are talking really good racers in the top 10 and he went from qualifying mid pack to running through the front of the field like they were dumping. Everyone else running last gen motors. R1 and Team Powers are just about to release their latest. Team Scream beat them to the punch.
