Some complaints can apparently get once legal bodies removed from the approved list without asking those who actually like or request that they remain legal.Yet I still never got an answer how rally bodies can be deemed legal or how the Citron kit wing meets the 10mm height rule. Apparently, membership doesn't buy at least a valid explanation despite asking multiple times.

FlyingM has gone as far as creating his own class (same rules, just allows the bodies that are disallowed). I get it, he sells bodies. At this point, I'd disqualify all McAllister bodies. Not because they're not great products, but for the harassment . This horse is DEAD. I think Rob has been overly patient.

Bit harsh, but I see where you're coming from.

MikeR said it best. Let's all move on, and race little cars. At least our bodies don't look like generic sedan clones.

We're all too poor to buy the real GT race cars anyways, regardless of where you can acquire one.

theproffesor 09-06-2016 06:28 AM

They don't look like clones because they all look like Cadillacs...:eek::eek:

Don't get me wrong, I really like PF bodies. I think the PF10 is awesome, have one waiting to get panted up when I return stateside. I will be getting a Ford GT or two when they come out. I like these cars because to me they look like race cars, not what you see driving down the street on a regular basis. But it does suck to see a field of 7 or 8 cars and 5 are Cadis, 1 Camaro, and only one or two non PF bodys that have been discontinued by the manufacturer.

With the shape of HPI, and almost all of the Mcalister bodies now banned, we are looking at a majority PF line up. Yes there are several other manufacturers, Tamiya being a big one, but price and availability of those other manufacturers keeps it pretty much a PF show.

I'm just glad the PF finally decided to make another (non GM) body to diversify the line up a bit. Can't wait.

In the mean time, with the USPF, sorry I mean USGT, let's get away from the single color no decal paint jobs so these cars don't look like what grandma drives to get the groceries.

Perhaps you would like to look at the body list, there are many choices besides pf.

Most go with easiest option. I cant control that.

e. must have a front and rear bumper of some sort.
f. use your decals and make it look like a race car including headlights and taillights
g. all rotors can not be larger than 12.5 mm in diameter

or

I.R.O.C. Pro GT Class sponsored by Gravity RC
a. must have TQ'd or finished in the top 5 of one of the following events running U.S.VTA rules: Scale Nats(Chicago) Southern Nats(Nashville) Summit Nats(Ft Wayne) Halloween Classic(Cleveland) Snowbirds Nats(Orlando) U.S.VTA Pavement Nats (FL) or the U.S.VTA National Points Series
b. sponsored or unsponsored
c. limited to 10 racers
d. 6 rounds at 10 min each
e. must use the PROTOform Chevy Camaro Z28 part#1544-30

more to come

It seems to me rather, most people use the body thats a)easiest to get (stocked locally), or b) performance advantage. If they see a person constantly winning with one shell, then they follow suit. Sedan-ltcr, speed 6, vta-usually the javlin, usgt, caddy, and sometimes the 'maro.

Rob K. I apologize if I have helped stir up a dead discussion. May be these ideas can be considered for next year. JRnotEwing's comments are uncalled for.

Rabbit0317 09-06-2016 11:10 AM

After you weed out a few select bodies it's really doesn't matter. The fastest most consistent drivers will always be up front winning. So find a body you like and hit the track perfect your setups and turn clean laps.

I am fairly new to racing and I can give some perspective as a newbie about the something that limits me and makes it harder to get into USGT.

1) The minimum weight requirement is actually something I care about and in my opinion makes it feel like I am less competitive. In my opinion you should be increasing the min weight, not decreasing. Something I struggle to understand is why you would want parity with ROAR instead of distinction (specifically around weight).
2) The approved body list is quite large in my opinion. I feel like there is a great selection to choose between, however I find myself limited due to weight requirements. I would be much more likely to choose heavier bodies if I didn't feel like it was such a stretch to keep my weight down.

While I understand the other posters in this thread stating that the best drivers will always rise to the top. My response to that is I am trying to have fun and be competitive at the same time... I don't want to feel like I'm giving up the fun part to be competitive.
