My local track has started using the new 1380g weight rule last weekend. Med traction, gravity spec tires, outdoor asphalt. Results: cars went a lap faster, fast lap was quicker almost .5 and the motors were barely warm. most of us did not change gearing, so the this week will be even faster once gearing is adjusted.

Not sure if this has been addressed or not, but I was wondering if the bodies that are in the "DISCONTINUED" section of the USGT Body List are still allowed, or are they considered illegal now? I have a couple that are on the list. I'm assuming that they are still allowed because they are "on the list," and they would be removed if they were not allowed. There are still some floating around out there, and available at certain retailers, even though they will be getting harder and harder to find. Thanks.

I understand that the rules are effective in August, but I know some tracks are going to adopt them earlier to let their people get used to the changes, but my question is, hypothetically, on Sept 1st, I have a body that was on the old approved list, and is now on the "DISCONTINUED" list, does that mean I can no longer run that body, or are they simply stating that they are no longer being produced.

All bodies listed are legal, discontinued bodies listed are still somewhat available. We just wanted to have that caveat there. In any case, refer to the discontinued body rule if it's something not on the list that been previously available.

I'm thinking that come August if your body is not on the new list, you can not run it if your club goes by the USVTA/USGT Rules. There is no way they can keep a manufacturer from making a body that is no longer approved. There will be clubs that ignore the new list and Gary McAllister will still be selling the Daytona Prototype bodies.

The rules committee has decided that some bodies are not legal, for this class. I love the Corvette DP, but I will find another body to run and be legal.
