Our pavement track closed down a few weeks ago, so I raced at a track that has a concrete surface. They had a lot of soda down and it was pretty sticky. During practice I could not get my TC6.2 that had 36R Sweep tires to hook up. However, my USGT TC6.2 that has the Ride Treaded Tires hooked up great. I thought that was very strange, but I just ran VTA and USGT that night. By the end of the night the guys running slicks began hooking up.

Its probably the heat. The USGT Ride tires are harder and would get less slippery when hot towards the end of the run. I' guessing the 36's probably started out good and got slippery. 40's work better towards the end, but are a little pushy at the first. At least this was my experience on asphalt.

So looking to get into the class currently have X-ray t4 2015 not sure if I really like it. So just to try something different I'm thinking tamiya evo 6 or tamiya 419 what are your options about the two ?

This concrete is funny stuff, I like asphalt a lot better. Actually the 36R's were slippery right off the bat.

What don't you like about the T4?

I had an Evo 6, did not like it. The casting on the transmission cases was absolutely terrible, binding everywhere, and Tamiya plastic just isn't durable (sorry). In my opinion both of your other options would be a serious downgrade.

Be aware, the 5000mah GForce battery is about 50-60 grams lighter than other 5000mah batteries. Can't tell you what that means but..., you'll be adding weight to your car for sure.

Makes for a great VTA battery...

Handling of bodies

Can anyone comment on the handling of the hpi Porsche 911 and the hpi Toyota Celica in USGT trim? I'm racing on carpet

I run the celica on my fwd car and it works great. Lots of steering and the rear is planted. It's also one of the only ones that fit my MTS FF Pro.

I run the HPI 911 Turbo Body with the Plastic High Down force wing. Works fine, no issues.

Looks like plenty of downforce on that one. It can even overcome the force of gravity when upside-down. :)

First time I raced the Porsche was yesterday outdoors. Compared to my AUDI R8, the Porsche pushed quite a bit (perhaps because of the big rear wing compared to the small scale looking wing on the AUDI). But by the end of the day, I made enough setup changes and I got the car racy once again. I'm told they don't make the R8 anymore so I'll keep working on the Porsche to make it work. It looks cool and weights less than the R8 (a big plus since our club is still using 1400 grams for USGT until next year). I already have some other setup changes in mind that were too difficult to do at the track.

If you like the Porsche, try the RX8, it's my favorite body right now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been looking at the rx8 body and I can see how it would be good.

I have a bit of a noob question regarding gear diffs. Does a front diff with thick fluid (500k in my case) cause a vibration if the car is left to sit before running (the fluid pooling in the bottom of the case)?

The reason I ask is that my Tamiya TB04 had an issue with the front shocks getting soft as the day progressed when racing it for the first time this past weekend. It got to the point where my body was dragging on the ground when braking during my final.

The shocks were not leaking, so the only other reason I could think of for the fading damping was a vibration causing the oil to emulsify. Am I way off base here?
