I left mine how it came from eXpress... right at 50. I haven't really played much with motor settings as I just got it Sunday to race in that class. I did start with a 3.69 final, but the car was still accelerating at the end of the straight. Maybe next weekend I'll try a 3.87 final just to see how my lap times look. Or, I may try 55 on the timing. Anyways, I would say starting point for me to be 3.78 (not 3.79 sorry) with 50 on the timing. Then go from there.

yep that fan D4 mount is the best!
for other motors I prefer the orca fan mount, it has a screw that forces it tight on the motor can

Has anyone else had a problem with the spec tire inserts gong to poop after just a few runs. I have two tires that are useless just after getting to the point of being really broken in. One tire the foam is gone; turned to powder, the other it separated and bunched up on one side.

I have not seen this happen in a few runs...less than 10 runs.
I have seen the insert break down on the front tires that I have had for many race days...about 4 to 5 weekends/days of racing...so I would think over 50-60 runs with practice added in.
I have yet to see the insert break or separate and bunch up....not that it couldn't happen I just have not seen it.
Are you doing anything with your tires like soaking them in a bag with traction compound or hitting them with any harsh chemicals?
I only use LGC and SXT for my traction compounds....what are you using?

By a few runs, I mean 2 race days, maybe 10-12 packs on them total. They aren't even fully broken in. The center mold is still there. I use sxt 3.0, and liberally coat them before storing in a zip lock bag. I also have been using tire warmers to get heat cycles through the tires to help decrease break in time. USGT tires are inexpensive, so I'm not worried about that, I just hate having to break in a new set already.

What I do now is before I mount the I put just the tires with sauce on all surfaces in zip lock for a few days, then I clean inside and mounting with simple green then mount, then grind the mold seam off then run

I don't soak my tires, simply use SXT3.0 treatment to clean and sauce the tires at the track.
It does not happen to the rears, I suspect the fronts deteriorate because if the extra load put on them by steering.
Now, I just keep an eye on them by squeezing them and feeling the inserts condition compared to the rears. When the fronts start to feel "hollow" or extra soft, I just replace them.

I really think that you soaking them and putting them into a ziploc bag might be the cause of some of the premature end of life with the insert.
For carpet this is how I prep my tires...
I use a muchmore tire sanding tool and use a file to take down the center seam. I then use a green scotch-brite pad and scuff the tire and take all the "shine" off the tire.
After that I just run them in and will use buggy grip on the tire before I sauce them the first 3 times. I will let the compound soak for 20-30 minutes for the first 3 runs and by the 4th or 5th run the tires are fine.
Also one thing I have been doing is I will do a burn out with the tires before I race and after I race. I think that the burn out after the race helps clean the tire for the next race.
I know these tires are "cheap" in the grand scheme of things but really you should be able to get 50-60 runs if not more out if a set on carpet. I also rotate them left to right every 3 runs aswell. Once the tires show the signs of the insert breaking down or the tire being too worn on the inside of the fronts, I throw them in a box and use them outside in the summer time. I usually end up with about 5 or so pairs of tires to use outside after a full indoor season up here in the midwest.
